Another drop in weight today. I have not had success success since I started this journey back in October of last year. Everyday. Every single day, I have had a loss. Meanwhile, I am eating more calories on average everyday since I started with the bulletproof coffee on Satureday.

I did the math this morning. In the two weeks prior to starting with the coffee, I ate 26552 calories less than I used...according to Fat Secret. In this time, I had adjusted my calculations, so that I was only recording the exercise I did each day, beyond normal activities. So if I divide this number by 3500, I get 7.6 pounds. What did I actually lose in that time? 2.4 pounds.

Since Saturday, I have had exceeded my RDI more days than not. My deficit for that time was 7824 calories. Divide that by 3500, and we get 2.2 pounds. Actual weight lose; 4.0 pounds.

This is not likely the secret to weight loss for everybody. But for me, the combination of starting my day with the bulletproof coffee, and then eating real, clean food, that is low in carbs, and moderate in protein...and yes, high in fat!...seems to be what is finally unlocking the weight loss for me. If someone tried to add the bulletproof coffee to their regime,...and continued to eat processed food, and refined carbs, I can't say whether the results would be as effective. But, I can say, that my husband noticed his pants were looser this morning. He has been eating less carbs...but no extremely low carbs, like me. And, he has started his mornings with the coffee the last several mornings. If nothing else, this might be an effective way to knock yourself off of a plateau.

If anyone else decides to try this out a few tips.
1) Use unsalted Kerrygold butter. If you use an unsalted butter that is not Kerrygold, then you want to make absolutely certain there is NO salt in it. I bought some Organic Sweet Butter from Trader Joe's, that, as it turns out, had a touch of salt in it. Don't do it. It taste horrid!
2} It is supposed to be made with MCT, because that is supposed to be the most effective way to kickstart your fat burning/ketosis. I have not been able to get any yet, but using a tablespoon of extra virgin coconut oil seems to be working adequately. I guess it has the mid-chain triglycerides in it that makes up MCT, but it is about a fifth or sixth of the content. It'll be interesting to see if there is any change when I finally get some MCT.
3) Use a blender or good hand mixer to combine these ingredients. You want a good frothy mix. When I take the lid off of the blender, the smell is to die for! It smells like coffee ice cream to me. :)
4) Don't eat until lunch. Drink plenty of water the rest of the AM. And if you want to work out, do so just before you eat lunch.
5) If you give it a try, do let me know what you think about it, and if you are seeing any changes in your weight loss.

I am grateful for Bulletproof coffee, and the energy it gives me, and the weight loss I am experiencing.
My supportive and loving husband.
My terrific kids.
My short hair cut...and how very easy it is to take care of!

Thanks for the details. Tried it yesterday and couldn't keep it down. (not the weighloss technique I was going for). Discovered afterwards I had used salted Kerrygold - oops! I got the unsalted this am to try again. I will be interested to see how you feel about the MCT. Right now I am going with coconut oil. I'm not weighing so won't be able to tie to weightloss, just experimenting for satiety, energy and ketones.

Yeah, the salted is pretty vile in coffee aurora...sorry you had that experience. Let me know how you like it tomorrow. My husband is hooked now. He said he has that in the morning, and he isn't hungry till 2 in the afternoon. I am still looking to see if I can find a local source for the MCT. For now, I will continue with the coconut oil.

I've been trying different combinations for breakfast lately. I do not drink coffee. It doesn't taste good to me. What I have found that works for me is to start the day out with a breakfast that may be lower in calories than my other meals for the day, but higher in carbs,a good amount of protein, and higher in fat (sounds like your combination for the morning). Atkins vanilla shake with frozen berries (1/2 cup) and some kind of protein (chicken, steak, bacon, or egg). I find myself full and ready to start the day. I have found that adding berries or apples give me the rush I need to start the day. I completely agree with you on working out before lunch. If I work out around 9am I will be ready for a snack by 10:30. If I hold off for just an hour I am ready for lunch at lunch time. I do good with working out between 3 and 4pm as well. Also, I found that increasing my carb intake to 25 by adding fruit helped with more weight loss. Furthermore, I was eating too few calories. I am physically active on a daily basis (pretty much) and by increasing my calorie intake by 300 per day, my plateau stopped and my weight loss was re-kindled.
