It's that time of night. The kids are all tucked into bed, the house is quite, and my sweet tooth is calling. This is the weakest part of my day.

I hear ya. This time of day is when my will is the weakest too, but we're stronger than our sugar cravings!

My sugar demons are strong. It's a tough fight.

Best solution is to get into bed with a good book and read till ya fall asleep! 👍

That's when I usually pop a little fat bomb (I make little ones about the size of a Hershey kiss...). It makes my mouth think I've had a sweet but it didn't cost me anything substantial in macros.

Ditto Nidoqueen's comment 8-) That and maybe some yoga to distract the mind.

What is a fat bomb?

If you were accustomed to an evening indulgence, create a new "legal" substitute. A warm soothing drink can be helpful and make a mental fuss over it as though it was what you were waiting for all day long.

@Bookwork4Life. I make "fatbombs" by blending equal amounts of butter and cream cheese, along with whatever sweetner and a little vanilla extract. They are great just like that, but you can also add other extracts for additional flavor. I've made maple, banana, and strawberry, so far. Once you have the mixture all blended and it tastes about right, put drops of the mixture onto wax or parchment paper and pop them in the freezer for 3-4 hours. Once frozen hard, take them off the paper and store them in an airtight container in the freezer (I use an old cool whip tub). Then when the Sweet Monster starts hounding me, I go grab one. The ones I make are about 50 calories and 1 carb each. Makes a nice treat. You can suck on it as it melts in your mouth and it's almost like you had a bowl of ice cream. I've also made a chocolate coating using Unsweetened cocoa, coconut oil, and sweetener. Melt in the microwave, allow to cool a bit, then drop the frozen bombs in one at a time to coat, put them back on the parchment paper and pop back in the freezer for another hour or so. Voila! Tastes like little bitty Klondike bars.

Hope all that ended well... let us know how to help.

My favorite "head trick" when I want a snack but really don't need one is to go brush my teeth. That fresh-brushed feeling is nice but kinda kills any yumminess I might have derived from the snack.

Same here. I am working hard now to control this.

Needlework keeps my hands busy or call a friend, can't eat while talking or if both hands are busy creating a knit project.
