A pound is about 3500 cal. 2 lb would be 7000 cal. Divided by 7 days is a 1000 cal. Deficit a day. You could decrease food by 500 and increase activity by 500, but either way that is a small number of calories and a lot of exercise which I’m assuming you realize could backfire and not accomplish what you want it to. Over exercising does not always work out well.

2 pounds a week isn't sustainable over the long term and is kind of unrealistic at your weight. 2 pounds per week would be ok for obese dieters. 1-1.5 is great.

Not for long. When did you start, Bunny? When you begin a diet you will lose a lot of water weight along with some fat. It will slow dramatically.

@KayBuckaroo I think it would depend on your friend's weight. The weight shown is not obese, so it would not be healthy to lose that much in a week. I am same height but in the obese category. My doctor told me I could lose max 20# month until I get into the low overweight category. So even if there was a way for her to lose 2# week, I would advise her to talk to her physician.

For women, targeting 1 lb per week (older, sedentary) to 0.5 lb per day (younger, active all day) should be the maximum. Anything higher will likely drive a woman into starvation mode.
2 lb per day!?!?!? That's got to be a higher proportion of water weight loss versus fat. Unless you are a lot heavier than you look, Bunny!

Also the calorie thing doesn't work exactly as they say. Our bodies are not the sealed units that they use to work calories out. A good book about that is Zoe Harcombe's - either of them she's got a couple (The Obesity Diet and Stop Counting Calories and Start Losing Weight are the ones I'm thinking of) - where she explains all about calories. A lot of 'facts' about calories are unsupportable - and some, no-one knows where they came from. Stick with what you're doing - er sorry what your friend's doing ;) - it seems to work well.

CICO is as surefire as you can get. Until machines that tell us our exact expenditure are made available at an affordable price, there is no other method that is as reliable.
