Doing a liquid fast currently, my initial goal is to do one for 24 hours but if I feel alright at that time (which will be around 9 am tomorrow) then I might continue, I'm not too sure at this moment. So far it's been going for 8.6 hours, which means I have almost 15 hours left to go. I was feeling hungry at around noon for me, which was about 5 hours ago, but I'm better now and I don't feel bad.

To help lose weight, to give me more energy, and a detox

I see that you are 15. Good for you for beginning to pay attention to your health. I would like to suggest that you see your physician and ask for a meeting with a dietitian. Adolescent medicine is its own specialty now and pays special attention to health, nutrition, exercise and prevention/treatment of obesity. There are many people selling dubious supplements, unproven weight loss schemes and silly notions. They are making gobs of money doing this. The detox community is especially good at selling. What do you think you need to detox from? “Junk food” is often full of fat but it is not full of toxic substances. Our livers and kidneys work all day everyday to eliminate waste products. Think about it..... even if your body is full of toxins, why would fasting itself be a solution? Many people with no nutritional or scientific background are very loud in expressing their opinions ... often with an almost religious fervor. We are all entitled to our opinion but not to our own facts. Again, congratulations on paying attention to your health and get expert advice.

Think about it ...... why would starvation increase energy? Energy is generated only when the body needs it to do work. It doesn’t “bubble up” when we are at rest. Sound reasonable?
