Yasmine15585's Journal, 22 July 2018

I've been eating really well, excerising, eating less too. It's been a depressing week seeing the scales creep up.... My only thought is that the antibiotics I'm taking are putting it on. I stop taking them on Monday so I hope I see some difference after.
170.2 lb Lost so far: 77.2 lb.    Still to go: 20.3 lb.    Diet followed reasonably well.
gaining 0.8 lb a week

I wouldn't be disheartened. It is only a pound and if you're not well I would just write the next week or two off until you're better. Its a marathon, not a sprint as the saying goes. Keep smiling 😊

This is a minor weight gain you have done so well and you will easily loose this soon as you recover. Health comes first. Rest and don’t worry you have done really really well.

Paulw69, I meant that the course finishes, not that I'm stopping on purpose, definitely always take my meds like a good girl 😀 Thanks guys, always love everyone's positivity 💜

Keep going. I lost 10 stone and it took four years to achieve. There were ups and downs along the way but I’ve never regretted all the hard effort I made to get there.

keep going. exercise can slow the scales but boost fat loss. it's not a linear weight loss pattern. some weeks will be like this but over all, it will come off x

There is no medical reason why antibiotics would increase weight. They could possibly alter your appetite but that is normally a decrease. Fingers crossed things will balance out 🤞

Chicchoc, apparently it is possible: 'How can gut bacteria impact your weight? Well, antibiotics generally kill off many healthy gut bacteria and allow an overgrowth of bacteria that cause us to gain weight. Bad gut bacteria produce chemical compounds (like propionic acid) that induce cravings, hunger, and inflammation. Additionally, inflammation will decrease your calorie burn rate all day long. This doesn’t just apply to people. This is why feedlots give animals antibiotics to fatten them up. Without any increase in food intake, feeding antibiotics increases weight gain in chickens, cows, and pigs. So don’t be surprised if you gain weight after taking an antibiotic.'
