Vickiauntmick's Journal, 22 July 2018

I've lost complete control of my diet. It spiraled out of control somewhere around the weekend before last and today. I literally just got back from a 1:15 am trip to the doughnut shop near my house... because they posted they were open all night on Facebook. And I looked at the pictures. I wanted to eat the pictures. I drove to the place to eat the pictures. I've made no attempt to be vegan for over two weeks. My stomach is not happy. The gas coming out of me right now 😂😂😳... I wish I could figure out why I lack so much self control.

You do not lack self control, you just haven't found the foolproof tool that can pull you out of hunger. MrsRoboto mentioned hers is staying away from sugar altogether. Mine is fasting. There are a bunch of tools, you just need to find the one that fits. Your brain is going to be hungry. That's a lot of what our fancy brains were designed for! Keeping you fed and keeping you sexed up. Donuts are the most fabulously wonderful thing around. You are not wrong or bad for getting them and enjoying them. What you need to figure out is what is going to turn your brain off now that you've enjoyed them. Protein? Super fiber rich foods? Staying away from carbs for a while? Fasting? Coffee? Tea? Eating one meal a day? You'll find the way that suits you and you'll know when you do because you'll feel more in control. Of course you want to pig out. We all do. Figuring out how to shut off the pigging out is what will change things for you. It will be like making a wrong turn on the way somewhere. You don't change your destination altogether, you just adjust a bit and get back on track. Good luck!

Vickiauntmick... there is a lot of great wisdom in each of these comments. One thing, in addition, that has helped me through struggles is recognizing that we are only in control of today. We just need to stay strong and not give into those temptations today. Yesterday’s mistakes are exactly that... they are in the past. Should we learn from them? Of course! But we do not need to feel trapped by the choices we have made previously. Tomorrow has enough problems of its own... let’s not stress about them. Focus on persevering through today and soon one day will turn into a week and a week will turn into a month and you will see the many times you have succeeded as opposed to the few hiccups you’ll have along the way. Today is a new day and a new opportunity to shine and succeed.

you have the ability to bounce back from the binge. its sooooo difficult to control the cravings especially when we are faced with the temptations daily. what Officially39 said about finding the right method to your madness. I agree. mine is abstinence because I know I am just one gooey dessert away from a relapse. keep moving towards your goal, you know you can do it.
