artistgrl's Journal, 12 February 2008

So, yesterday I started the couch to 5k! The weather was so nice, I just had to be outside - 70 degrees in February! I downloaded some podcasts, and I think they helped a lot. I got a couple of different ones, one that was a music mix, that had fast paced music for when you run, slower for when you walk. And I got another with a voice telling you when to run. It wasn't too tiring, and I felt good when I was finished! No rain in the forecast, so I'll try again tomorrow!

I think I'm getting the hang of this eating healthy thing. I'm actually not tempted by the cookies, and my office is being supportive. I was supposed to start eating healthier with 3 of my co-workers, but they flaked on me. Now that I've lost 19 pounds, they are saying, "I didn't think you would lose weight so fast! Why didn't we do it with you!" And yesterday someone actually brought in a SALAD for a snack, and this morning there were grapes!

Everyone have a great day!

It's great to see that you are providing inspiration for all your work colleagues... you watch, I'm sure it won't be long before they are trying to join you in your successes! Good on you for also starting the Couch to 5K program. I think I will investigate this one more myself, as I used to love running. You keep up the great work though as you are doing fantastic!! :o)

Way to go on the C25K! Don't forget that they recommend you leave a day in between your runs to let your body rest and repair. I use the in-between days to work on my upper body. I just finished session two of week 5. I was actually able to run two stretches of 8 minutes each where I struggled with the 60 second runs in week one! You will be amazed at how fast you progress! Next run for me is my first non-stop one and it is for 20 minutes! Yikes! Have a great day!

I'll take today off from running then. I don't want to overdo it! I have a trainer session tonight, and we're doing upper body, so that fits perfectly!

Wow, you'll have the whole office converted - good on you. Good luck with the running also. Sounds like you've cracked the fat secret.
