debrafrederick's Journal, 06 July 2016

It's not as bad as I expected it to be, it was 2.5 lbs up, I rounded it up to three, I will be fasting for at least three days, may take it to 5 or even 7, depends on how bad my binge urges are......right now they are pretty bad and, I seem to have a bit of sinus congestion and a sore throat. Funny how a weekend loaded with sugar and starches not only bring on the weight, but also an immune response. Hopefully the fasting will kick that in the butt as well! All in all I am still pretty happy with everything, I am still on track even though I am fighting the cravings again, I know that they will vanish in a day or two and the hunger will decrease. It does give one a sense of freedom, knowing that the symptoms can be quickly squashed by simply not eating, no powders, no pills, just don't eat! Bless all of you Fat Secret Warriors, without you here providing a sounding board these are things I never would have discovered and it makes a difference. Thank you all so much!

Hey DF, I had to peek at your Saturday's log and I'm jealous, haha. What time did you start your fast? I ended a 24hr fast last night with a meal within my macros although I intended to do a multi-day so I too could offset this past weekend. I want a multi-day fast buddy. I think Phil has surpassed 30hrs and I need to catch up LOL.

I'm thinking that I will do a 7 day this time around Ches, so if you want to do a 4 or 5 day you will be right there if you start now!

I'm almost 40 hours into a 7 day fast, last night was kind of touch and go. I wanted to eat something before bed, but I managed to get Lilly off to sleep and I fell in right with her. This morning is going good, no cravings, just a little coffee, have been taking the advice I asked for; keeping busy and sipping water. So far so good!

I love that you've gained such insight into how your body reacts, not only to the in-the-moment pleasure of foods you eat, but the follow-up reactions in the physical body. You are an inspiration and a teacher yourself.

I plan to do a multiday fast and transition back into a LCHF solid meal on Thursday the latest. I have my 1st 1/2 marathon on Sunday in Vermont, 4 hours away and want my energy to come from my adipose tissue. I went for a 15 minute walk a few minutes ago because I was hungry and the hunger pain went away after 10 minutes in so keeping busy will have to be my strategy. Good luck DF, Phil and Wanna.

Thanks guys! Past hour 48 on my fast and I even managed to cook hubby's dinner without hunger overwhelming me! The heat has been so bad that I have turned to my treadmill for my morning walk now, even at 5am it's too hot to be outside! UGH! Interesting thing though, I kicked my speed up to 5 and jogged for 1/4 of a mile...whoooo weeee! I might have gained a few pounds but keeping up a sustained run for longer than 30 seconds is something I have not done since I was in high school. My walk/trot/jog event when I skidded under the 200 lb mark has kind of set me off into a WANTING to run situation. I don't quite get it.....I HATED running in gym and I would do almost anything to avoid it up to and including twisting my own ankle to sit it out. Has anyone else ever had one of these types of about faces?

You are a rockstar, Debra! Your attitude will get you right back on track. I have been considering a fast myself (which I have never done before), so let me know if you have any tips for making it successful.

I drink lots of water Kitten, Mousy, keep hydrated, keep busy and don't eat, the hunger waves will hit, but they will pass too and decreased dramatically after 24 hours.
