Diana 1234's Journal, 18 December 2023

Well this is no surprise ..I've been eating like there is no tomorrow. Don't know what's up...I ate 10 cookies and lots of trail mix in 2 days and had lasagna yesterday! Noodles, cheese and all! Sometimes you just want cookies!! It will pass Diana, you will get back at it full throttle before long and everything will be ok. Quite a number of our members have had recent illnesses and surgeries, losses of loved ones...dealing with healing of any type throws off learned routines, combine the need to take it easy on yourself and the time of year we are in, well....it creates stress and maybe our willpower and determination are at a low point, it will come back if we just keep trying!

I heard Christmas cookies have no calories but you can get back to it 👍

I'm not as brave as you - I am not posting my weight right now. I did weigh myself and I was up 3 or 4 pounds. No cookies, but I ordered Christmas gifts from nuts.com and got some stuff for me as well! Love cheddar and caramel corn packaged together and also ate some malted milk balls. I always caved on peanut brittle about 2 weeks ago during be private pity party. But I bought the small box instead for the 2 pound box.

Otb, Damn, My body didn't get that memo...😭😭

Fritzy, I almost didn't log but I decided to journal it to remind myself what happens when I simply give up and give in. I know others struggle as well and I know what I need to do. Sometimes I just wanna eat like a normal person... I can but my problem is when I start I can't stop...it's like I know I'm binging and I do that cuz I know I'll have regrets the next day so why not gorge today??? Not a good thought process. I knew it was bad when my nutritionist texts me at 5 am to ask what the h*** is going on!?

dc and bad juju, Zenus, and Debra. thanks for the support. I am trying to get back on track…It seems to me that I self sabotaged myself so need to figure the reason why so I won’t do it again…It was not a pretty sight.

What would happen if you didn’t bake cookies in your house next year? What if you showed up for parties and gatherings with potted chrysanthemums for the host? If it’s a cookie exchange, what would happen if you skipped it and went to a movie with Joe instead (or any other activity)? Just brainstorming other ideas, since this tradition has the same results every year for everyone.

The problem with cookie exchanges is not only do you have to deal with all the baking but you end up bringing home as many cookies as you brought. You need an exit plan !!

What’s done is done and it’s all about where you go from here. 💝 You got this, Diana. Don’t keep beating yourself up and do focus on getting it back on track.

Meh. You caught it, you’ll fix it. Check your data for patterns. You do need to figure it out before you teach those great grandchildren how to bake. That’s one of my favorite memories.

I'm up, too. Not stressing cause I know when I cut back, it will come off. I only ate 1 cookie @ our cookie baking get-together, but I did bring a few home. My gain is from resteraunt meals & cocktails. Also food from our family Christmas party yesterday. And no Gym for me for a week.

OK - let's have no treats until next Monday!! Get a week in of good eating and workouts before the holiday. My goal this week is just 1# off by Friday. We can do this!

JB, I do the exchange as a tribute to Joe's mom and sister who both passed a few years ago. It was originally started by them and it was a huge highlight in Joe's family. It means a lot to Joe that I continue this tradition. I've been able to do it in the past with having him as a taster. This year I just went off the rails ..💜 Moko, liv, sugarplum,Morticia, thanks! It is the time of year...💜 Katsolo, Sherrye, Rpl, It's time to get busy and do what we need to do! I think Kat has a good idea. I seem to be struggling and I need to find the trigger ...💜

Like you, Diana our Cookie baking day has become a family tradition. We partially do it for the enjoyment of my great nieces, but the big girls have fun, too. When my Granddaughter is in town she attends also.Trading off for another activity wouldn't be the same. Sometimes activities do revolve around food & in my opinion that's OK. I know I can get back on track.
