Diana 1234's Journal, 29 January 2023

Crap! Scale is going the wrong way! I've been working out like crazy, even added an afternoon walk to the mix. Yesterday I was starving all day( I did a weightlifting boot camp in the morning) and so instead of eating sugary stuff I ate more protein than usual. I did have pulled pork last night but no bbq sauce. I went over RDI but I wasn't to concerned cuz it was mostly due to protein consumption. ( ended up eating about 146 grams protein) Tomorrow is appt with nutritionist. Let's see what measurements are...ugh...I'm frustrated!! ☹️🤐

Muscle weighs more than fat and from my experience when you are working out you’ll have times when the scale will go the wrong direction occasionally. You got this!

Muscle weighs more than fat and the weight scale (lbs) wasn't designed to show 'health'. Okay 😉

You look amazing! I’m guessing you probably you probably feel great too. Your nutritionist is going to tell you what you already know, it’s time to let go of the scale. You are doing a great job.

You got this.

💚 Maybe this will drop by tomorrow? Some things to ponder: are your calories higher this month? Are you lifting more? Those 2 things plus more protein could be increasing your size. I have found for myself that doing more cardio like hiking and dancing burns the fat faster, and lifting/resistance exercise only needs to be done 4x/week. Runners and ballerinas also lift, but are much leaner than lifters and still very muscular. Just things to consider 🤔.

If you are weight lifting your building muscle. My suggestion is pay more attention to measurements than weight. That's where you'll see the difference.

I know how frustrated you get when this happens but you are staying very active and doing great.

My weight has been up the last few days, too. Not a lot, but higher than a week ago. But out of curiosity, I got the tape measure out yesterday. Bust & hips were the same, but I'd lost an inch in my waist. I know it's hard to not focus on the scale but some days if you eat more of something it flucates up. Try to not let it throw you. YOU ARE DOING GREAT!

No worries Diana! You are killing this fitness journey! You check all the boxes! Working out regularly ✅ Building muscle ✅ Watching calories ✅ Studying macros ✅ This little blip on the radar is likely nothing to concern yourself about. Your nutritionist will help you see the good and the not so good...... you GOT this! 💪 💯 🌎 🫶 ☘️

Protein is more dense than fat, so you could just be building muscle while simultaneously burning fat. For example, you could’ve burned off 1 pound of fat and gained 2 pounds of muscle. Even tho the scale would show a 1 pound increase, you are still getting leaner. Building muscle is how you get a toned physique. I’d say trust the process, don’t focus too much on the scale, and do your best to continue to work out and to keep track of your overall calories.

I started doing the same thing and a friend suggested intermittent fasting two times a week. Dropped right off.

It’s likely water weight or the food you consumed is still in your intestines. You might try drinking 100 oz. of water to see if that helps.

Ecfitnest is exactly right! It is likely you are having lean gains which is more important for overall health. Also muscle hold fluid in the recovery stage. You rae rocking it so no worries!

Thank you everyone for supporting me!!💜Even though my gain is minimal, it frustrates me. I get the muscle gain thing but not sure that's it. Tomorrow measurements will tell and I'm sure nutritionist will have input and advice. I am lifting heavier and more often but I've included 20 min of cardio before lifting and added a fast walk in my neighborhood 5 days a week in afternoon . I'll post tomorrow to let you guys know what nutritionist says.💜💜

Diana, you did write (multiple times) last year that after the holidays your Nutritionist was going to put you on a higher-calorie, clean bulk to fill out the bat wings. You said she wanted you to GAIN a few pounds. If you would rather be 125 and have lean muscles (think Madonna arms, not Serena Williams), then you may want to put your foot down and tell her specifically what you want. Pictures may make things clearer. Because right now she's going ahead with her plan. Personally I would just ask Joe for the surgery to reduce the arm skin, as that's the only permanent solution.🎁

Diana - I had surgery for underarm fat and it is invasive, leaves scars and I wish I had reconsidered it.

I think it’s normal to fluctuate. I’ve been going from 129 - 131. My av weekly weight is 130.

HCB, I heard it was invasive. I'm sorry you had to go thru the pain etc and didn't get results you wanted. 💜I am not considering surgery and never was. I will do what I can through weightlifting and toning. 💜💜💜

Diana- I think you are getting muscle back- based on your pics and when you are lifting and you feel a little hungrier- you listened to your body and you ate more protein (unlike when I listen to my body and have a blizzard). It will all even out and it is just what it is as you recomp your body. You look great and very fit. Don't let the number on the scale get the best of you.
