Fritzy 22's Journal, 09 November 2021

It may be time for a new scale. It seemed okay after I changed the battery but this morning I got a weight 2 pounds less than what I finally settled on since it's the same weight as yesterday and I got this weight twice out of the 4 times I stepped on the scale. I know I didn't lose 2 pounds overnight. But I'll check out scales online and see if my same scale is still around. I've loved it for at least 10 years

a 2lb fluctuation up or down is possible.

Thanks Crystal - I really don't want a new scale but I get different weights if I step on the scale several times. I'm looking for the same brand. I do have an extra scale in the guest bath, but it weighs low about 7 or 8 pounds. Nice for company but not for me. Rick - I know my weight will vary 2-5 pounds during the day especially when drinking lots of liquids. I felt safe just posting the same weight as yesterday (and the day before).

I can gain and lose a ton from day to day. Especially if I have been eating in a calorie deficit for awhile and then have a big splurge. It is nothing to see 5-6 pounds overnight. (of water and sodium and the weight of the food itself :) ) Hope you can find your fave scale again.

You can drop weight fast. You can also gain weight fast. But if you are getting on and off the scale repeatedly within just a minute the scale is wonky. Do you have it on a solid surface like ceramic tile ? Sometimes wood floors have a little give and the scale may not be balanced on the floor. Hope you figure it out !

Thanks DP and Crazycat. I'm used to my weight fluctuating during the day and I know the change from day to day can be up or down without an apparent reason when I weigh myself every day. I weigh myself first thing in the morning when I am at my lowest weight usually. The scale sets on my bathroom floor which is level and I never move it. I'll step on the scale and it will give me a digital weight, say 136.8 (in my dream!) then I'll step off and weigh again, just to be sure and it will be 134.2 - that's too big of a difference. I don't mind if the 2nd weight is 137.0 or 136.6 and I'll enter the higher weight. Anyway, I ordered a new scale on Amazon that should be here Friday

It is perfectly normal to lose 1-3 lbs overnight. Your body will sweat, and people urinate in the evenings or even wake up to pee. So, basically you’re experiencing dehydration. That is why you should weigh in on mornings. It will be the most accurate weight to watch, seeing as there are just too many variables to take into account during the day.

Why can't you have list weight overnight? I've lost up to 3 lbs overnight before. Enjoy your loss!💜💜💜💜💜

Just weigh once. No need for the best 2 out of three.

Oh- I see what you mean- that big of a difference right in a row would be frustrating.

Fritzy I usually weigh myself twice. Normally I get the same number but sometimes get a .2 difference. I just figure I am between those two numbers and the scale since it doesn't register tenths of a lb !

CPRoss - I know I weigh less first thing in the morning, usually 2-3 pounds. Diana thanks but I've been kinda treading water for the last 3 or 4 days. Kenna - on my scale, which I've had for over 10 years I know I need to check it several times. Maybe it's the battery or something. But I'll step on it and get the weight and if it doesn't make sense to me I'll step on it again. If I get the exact same thing I'll accept it, even if it means I've gained or loss more than I expected. But I've learned that usually the 2nd reading is different, usually only .2 or .4 of a pound so I weight until I get the same weight twice. Maybe you wouldn't do it that way, it's just the way I am. Wish the doctor's office would let me keep weighing until I got the weight I want! Thanks DP. This morning I got the same weight really early - around 3am, and I stepped on it 3 times. I just weighed myself again after sleeping in late and before coffee and the weight was lower (as expected) but I got the same weight twice so I posted it. Crazycat my scale also only weighs in .2 pounds.
