Day 4 of a planned 5 day fast

Well at least the scale is finally going in the right direction :)

I have also kept my carbs <5 all week and yesterday I did <2 carbs by only using half a scoop of "Quest Vanilla Milkshake Protein Powder" in my morning coffee.

This stuff is the nectar of the Gods. I had consumed a full scoop on Tuesday and felt 'carbed up'. This was fine because I lifted weights that morning, but I had a feeling that while it only had 3 carbs, it has 24 grams of protein and I feel my body will burn it for energy (See: How Too Much Protein is Bad for Ketosis (https://bit.ly/2L7rFyK)).

Anyway, yesterday I had that bad breath that I get when in weight losing mode (this has me using breath spray all day), so I was not too surprised that I finally had a loss. However, I am still up 3 pounds from my low in mid-June.

Thanks for all the support yesterday! It REALLY helped me. I was feeling sorry for myself but I was totally fine after reading all your comments.

Thank You!

Fantastic! You really fast for 5 days straight? That is inspiring, I'm up to about a 10 hour fast so far.

You mentioned to drink electrolyte water ( but not just water) what do yuh mean ?

I read an interesting article this morning about the importance of getting protein in the morning to get the body out of hunt mode. supposibly in the morning you are deep into fat burning and the body to protect itself from burning out will slow the metabolism to allow more energy to go on the hunt for food. so it encouraged the readers to eat a strong breakfast even though the hunt mode tells you that you are not hungry. eating the protein and maybe even your carb can jumpstart the metabolism. kept me interested this morning.

@Almira 30 - After the second day of fasting I found that when I drink Fuji water (with electrolytes) it would just 'go though me'. I would basically still get dehydrated. Hi-lyte electrolyte concentrate solved the problem.

@keilin-4 - For body odor, in the middle of the day I have to reapply my underarm deodorant. I also don't stand too close to coworkers (a good idea anyway).

@Keyishealth - I Didn't think I could fast until I tried it. My original fasts were just 'no solid food' and I would 'drink' McDonald's milk shakes. This book helped me: "The Obesity Code: Unlocking the Secrets of Weight Loss" - https://amzn.to/2sAbluO

@Becc@ - Thanks!

@baskington - That is interesting. Thank You! I do know that I cannot 'eat' breakfast because I will then 'continue eating' for the rest of the day (and do 100+ carbs). But a protein shot in my coffee seems to be ok these past two days. I just felt I took 'too much' on Tuesday .

Yayay!!! Concurring the scale and lowering those carbs! I noticed last week that the “Keto smell” coming from my pours is finally starting to diminish. Makes gym visits less awkward lol Oh and quest cookies and creme is good too!

@CrashtestDawnie - A disadvantage of the fasting is that I am going in and out of Keto when I eat :( You however can STAY in Keto...
13 Jul 18 by member: adefwebserver
Abef, you don’t stay in Ketosis the whole fast? I thought that was the case
13 Jul 18 by member: CrashtestDawnie
@CrashtestDawnie - It takes me 2-3 days to get in Ketosis and then I hit day 5 and eat that night. So I get, what 2 1/2 days? My understanding is once a Keto person gets in Ketosis they stay there until they eat a BigMac :) Now if I could eat low carb, I MIGHT be able to stay in Ketosis. I will TRY this weekend... but, don't hold your breath... :)
