Rckc's Journal, 09 May 2016

Well, What a Mother's Day! Hawaiian Strawberry Pie, need I say more? Oh yeah, cheesy potatoes, calico beans, strawberries...Don't worry, I also threw in some chicken and deviled eggs!

So, today I am trying something new. I've been eating an avocado for lunch, then eat supper. Today I skipped the coconut oil in my coffee and am not eating until tomorrow. Lordy, just seeing that in print makes me nervous. Can I do it? Can I not eat ANYTHING til then? I've read all your journals, fasting for days at a time. I know it CAN be done, but by ME? I know I have the support of all my FS peeps. I welcome suggestions and your experiences with fasting. Should I strive for zero calories or just very low? Drink broth? Just lay down and sleep til its over, lol? Thanks ALL!

I found that drinking broth, coffee (with cream) and tea and lots of water helps. If you really find it difficult have a small piece of cream cheese, or coconut oil - some sort of fat helps me dispel any hunger. It might work for you. I think it is a "cheat" though on a fast. Good luck!

One tip, don't look at the clock unless you must, clock watching makes it seem forever, try to stay as busy as you can and when your mind wanders to food, engage it with something else. Eating three meals a day is a habit and habits are difficult to break so don't beat yourself up if you can't make the full 24 hours. Go as long as you are able and the next time you do it, make yourself go an extra hour or two. Everything I have read about fasting says work yourself up to it, every extra hour you go between feedings helps. Progress, not perfection!

I say, see how you feel and pay attention to your body's signals. Eating very lightly can have virtually the same benefits as fasting.

I'm hungry. Not starving but tummy definitely making noises. I was looking at the 5:2 diet. Any thoughts? 6 tonight will be 24 hours. I wasn't going to eat til tomorrow but wondering about this 5:2 diet. Maybe eat <500 calories for supper?

I'd opt for sleeping, but that wouldn't be very practical.

Your mothers day food sounds heavenly. I don't think I could skip anything. I'm already cranky cutting out grains and processed foods. I would do broth and water with fruit floating in it, but that's just me. I wish you the best with this...and like SeaRoyhill said, I'd sleep lol
