Fritzy 22's Journal, 06 January 2022

Breakfast this morning was toast made with Oroweat Oat Nut bread and Smucker's blackberry jam. I posted about the bread yesterday, buying it because it was on "sale" at $2.99. When I make toast with this bread it has to have jam on it. Jam is something, like mayonnaise, that I often throw out when the half empty jar has been in the fridge for several months. I rarely make toast and jelly or jam. Now that the jar of jam is open I will need to try to use it! Oh, I know I could snag those little packets of jam or jelly when I go out to breakfast. But I don't go out to breakfast at all anymore.

Fritzy, I seldom eat jam/ jelly on toast anymore. It's funny cause my daughter says English muffins remind her of me eating orange marmalade on them. I do use it to cook sometimes on chops or chicken.

Katsolo - that's not as good as jam! Shrewdness - hmmm. SherryeB - it's funny how certain items go with other items. If I make toast with potato bread I make it cinnamon toast. English muffins I eat with butter, sometimes peanut butter. Never any kind of jam or jelly. I had a friend who put candy corn in her popcorn. I've been known to put salt on ice cream.

I think (though I hate to say it) I am actually too lazy to put the jelly on. If it isn't the squeezy kind, then I have to try to dig it out with a knife. But sometimes I do it. That bread sure sounds fancy. I hope it is delicious. I have never heard of it.

DP-Do you have Oroweat bread? That's the main brand of bread in our grocery stores. I don't like wheat bread, as a kid I always wanted white bread over "brown" bread. But I tried the oat nut bread once and really like it. Not as healthy as wheat bran but it works for me.

The jam and mayonnaise are empty calories that I don't allow in my house. Only nutrient dense foods

I beg to differ. Ripe person with peanut butter is one of my absolute favorite things ever.

Persimmon. OMG, spellcheck hates me in 2022.

feuriger - I agree with the premise. And I try. But sometimes a tablespoon or two of something makes all the difference in the way something taste. Don't know if you've read my other comments that I throw away jars of mayonnaise and jam after they sit in my refrigerator for months without more than a few tablespoons being used. Katsolo I was wondering what a ripe person was......

Lol Kat!🤣 Fritzy, jam seems to take ages to finish for me too. I do love a good pb&j every so often though. I have also been known to add cheddar or brie to it, but haven't heard of salt on ice-cream before. Now I'm tempted to try it. 😊

Nikina - the salted caramel products motivated me to try salt on ice cream. I had a bowl with caramel topping. I love salted caramel anything
