You know what the common theme is with clickbait fitness advice and Netflix "food activism" documentaries? They find all the problems, and make sure to blame them on everything BUT... you. - "it's the grain industry keeping you big" - "meat caused the obesity epidemic" - "buy this detox to get rid of 'fat loss blocking toxins' " - "drink this tea to burn belly fat" We've all seen this bunk, but it keeps showing up because people would rather buy into a palatable lie than face a hard truth. There's an old saying that's needed now more than ever: "You're the only problem you'll ever have, fortunately, you're also the solution." You want to get in shape? It's going to take WORK. You're going to need to be consistent with your diet, and the best way to do that is through tracking what you eat - and doing that purposefully. You're going to need to make exercise a part of your life too because the nature of modern living is sedentary AF. Again, it'll take work. That's good though - you build the habits that carry you forward in life through reclaiming your fitness. It spills over into all aspects, so when you see the fork in the road - avoid the path that takes to the (metaphorical) circus.

A lot of modern life has completely warped our perspective. Whether it's feeling deprived because there isn't twice as much food as you actually need on the plate (me) or thinking that merely walking anywhere/doing a bit of housework is an "active lifestyle", it's a recipe for fatness.

No shortcuts indeed! I need to put some work in and stop slacking. Again, thank you for sharing. 👍

This is only a little bit related but I saw someone on a blog site that will remain unnamed *truly* stressing about how they had never been properly taught how to clean their room and how it's entirely unfair that they should be expected to just magically know how to. This theme of passing the buck is becoming horrendously pervasive. How are we as a society ever going to be able to rely on ourselves if we're entirely incapable of taking the blame? When do we decide to step up and put in the work and take ownership of both our successes and our failures? It's bonkers.

Got a place near us called Insomnia cookies. Essentially huge cookie pie type things that are insane.

Diablo, when I was in Ohio, I used to order from Insomnia cookies at midnight. It's like I was trying to get fat.

LC, that's cool, Ohio isn't too far from us, I didn't even know it was a chain.

One of my favorites yet. I always enjoy these memes and these fun yet informative posts. Yep, Insomnia is a chain. No more giant cookies at midnight in my life.
