SPRING RECOMP 2021 - DAY 34
REST DAY

For reasons unclear, Pop decides the replacement bath lady is a bridge too far, spontaneously grows a pair, and refuses to bathe. Also a genius, bath lady, in a lovely yet ferocious English/patois mix, is on about geriatric defiance and calls the agency, mid-negotiations, to report. Unable to properly behold the unfolding farce due to the sinus oozing from my left eye, and possessed of even less than my characteristically low patience, I am far from my gentle best. Somehow the muddle forward is achieved. The highlight was their bath interaction, echoing throughout the house, inspired by her apparent inability to decipher the riddle of the hot water tap. I did not intervene. Who am I to question the wisdom of the karmic wheel?

Off diet, cause feed a cold. Lost track of the tacos. Somewhere between 2800k and 3500k all in. Did, barely, refrain from a midnight ice cream run.

Snorkler, benadryl, Flonase, and some other shit I can't remember in full effect. Mad mad dreams. Ex wife and two football players saw fit to lecture me on my diet. Too much meat, I am told. And more eggs. But I had an omelet for breakfast, I protest. Choline. Why am I arguing with these people? Not even gonna venture a guess as to a Jungian interpretation of that psychic detritus...

Wide awake at 0200, and, shockingly, momentarily no longer a mouth breather with an ice pick stuck in my left cornea. So progress!

Taking another rest day. Hopefully one more will get me mostly right. Chores and gonna make that spano I punted on last weekend.

Onward.

Let's go!

wanna negotiate the final selection of a washer dryer for me? I thought it was done when I paid for them, but nooooo... just got a phone call.

All I can say is Wow! Praying things get better for you.

@kat. NP. We'll send that shit right back to HD and order up a couple used commercial units. That'll do the entire household linenry in one load; and be serviceable for another 20 years. I am so triggered by the near instant obsolescence and lack of serviceability of new appliances.....

Glad your sinus troubles are getting better...😳

funny thing, I wanted to repair the dryer again. she doesn't want to because it's $300 every time. it's vintage kenmore (late 1980's) and needs heating element and thermostat. washer is fine. sounds like you agree.

Love that song- on my gym playlist. Helps me push through my reps. ;) Hope you heal up!

You're making my mornings with the commentary. :) Feel better soon.

Yep. Old Kenmore was pretty decent. There's a sub reddit dedicated to appliances that has some knowledgeable dudes. When I started shopping for stuff I read review after review on houzz(sp?) from people who had spent 10s of thousands on Viking/Thermador etc. "top of the line" consumer appliances and had the dishwasher flood their kitchen right out of the box, months and months and still not resolved. New is def not necessarily better IMHO.

you need to try a Neti, BTW. you're beyond help at the moment, but flush those allergens once you have circulation restored. I only need to do it certain times of the year. I think I'm going to make a last minute plea for repair as I hate tossing reliable things. We did specifically go for simple vs. fancy, but it's still a sh*t ton of money for very mundane things.

@DP. Too funny. It's a "banger" as the kids say. Gotta admit, if I had to guess your playlist, I would not have guessed RATM. My lift loop is all Rage. Top set - Calm Like a Bomb. Best dance track in the squat rack!

that would be a Neti pot sinus rinse. not to be confused with a Yeti, which keeps the beer cold.

Feel better Jimmie, hope it works out to be a great weekend.🙏🏽💕🌻

I'm pretty sure that the "Feed the cold" expression is to be met with chicken noodle soup and an orange, not tacos. But hey, if you were able to taste them and they don't make you sicker, what do I know? 😋😆 Get well soon!

Kat - Save the old W/D from going to the appliance graveyard. The world has enough scrap metal to last another 500 years. JP - hope your Pop settles in with his new health care assistant. Stay well and journey on !

@kat I'm on the snorkler, aka neilmed neti bottle. Likely not what it's properly called, but it's the squirt bottle version of the neti pot. Works great, without requiring of me the advanced yogic coordination of the tea pot thingy...

yeah, I have one of those somewhere. you lose the benefit of serving tea to your enemies out of the snot pot. I tend to be literal with the "snorkeler" reference. just won the washer/dryer battle. back to repair. yes!

@kat I don't mind spending for new, but require value. Consumer appliance manufacturers all seem to have the same strategy. Increase gadgetry and complexity. Decrease usable life. Mandate expensive factory parts and service. Plus don't get me started with "smart." appliances. If I wanted to be nagged about milk by a talking refrigerator I would still be married.

@kat. LMAO You got me. Caught the inverse snorkel of the white cooking wine I decided to day drink on the "neti pot tea with your enemies" bit...

God bless you. I took care of my father for about a year. I know your struggles. Like I say, God Bless. 😉
