-Diablo's Journal, 29 March 2021

Many people think they are different yet when they put 300 guys on the same diet and lifting routine for the movie 300 they all got 6 packs. You differ in what you can stick to but when it comes to CICO we vary very little given similar heights and weights. Muscle mass and your job will have way more to do with Calories out than genetics. If you doubt, speak up and I'll find the resources to prove it. Just Google metabolic ward studies if you want.

Absolutely. People like to say everyone is different, and it's true people have different preferences, but aside from that and a few inherited genetic conditions, the same rules apply to the majority of humans.

One of my fave guilty pleasure shows, Secret Eaters, kindly calls people out on this all the time. 😆 We could spend hours dissecting why it is that calories *in* have become such a problem for so many people, but at the end of the day the factors affecting calories *out* tend to be a little more straightforward and a little less variable, imo. The exact number is difficult to pin down, but the contributing factors tend to be the same for everyone.

Please, nobody compel D. to produce his research (...you'll be sorry if you do).

I wonder how long they had to train to get in such great shape for that movie. I could Google it, but thought Diablo might know off the top of his head.

Gerard Butler talked about the CGI enhanced abs he had in 300. Yes, they had 6 or 8 pack abs, but the spray tans and computer shading helped enhance the image. I say Whatever inspires you - go for it!

I trust most everything Diable says 😆 but applying that same logic to a group and guys and a group of girls - there would definitely be a difference right? maybe it's just folklore but men lose weight and grow muscle much easier/faster than women. is that metabolism based?

I don't know how long they trained for the part, Larilyn. Yes, Tina, women would most likely just need a few hundred less calories per day since they are ok average smaller, otherwise most everything would be the same.

sheloves, I love the secret eaters shows. When they have to come to terms that they are not special, it's pretty satisfying.

Gibjib, yes you definitely can't trust movie scenes. They will always have enhancements even if only minor ones are needed.

hmmm. cgi for abs? I'm there man. seriously though thanks for debunking so much stuff. I'm not sure if it's bad teaching in my case as much is it is someone heard something they told me. I pick up bits and pieces of junk and out in my pocket. ugh.

I'm sure Butler had the abs but they were popping a little more than normal in some shots. Reminds me of the Toby Maguire scene when he first woke up with powers in Spiderman. Conveniently, you never see his abs again.

😂😂 that's my problem. I haven't seen mine either for a bit.

They're overrated. Lol, just kidding. I'm chasing strength plus abs. I don't care if it's tough. I love a challenge!

My life is my study. Hypoglycemia is not imagined and I’m not coming at you, David. But this post makes me feel like you’re coming at people like me. Being candid and honest here, dude. I consider you a friend and you know a ton, obviously. But only I have lived my life with my metabolic condition. I didn’t choose it but I choose to rule it. I can’t do that eating what you eat. Period. I just can’t. I don’t (nor ever would) pick fights in a supportive community. And not doing that here. Just advancing the conversation. Thanks and appreciate you. 👊🏻

GibJig may have a point there. Because, I was under the impression that they used make-up to chisel those abs. LOL Sad, but true....Do you do roids or are your muscles inherited? I have muscles bc of my mom. I don't use anything for mine except HGH once in a while at this age. I used to work w/body builders that competed and won, but I was just in a bench-pressing contest and got 1st place. I didn't want to parade around on stage in my undies for my community to see nor take pix of. I was often asked when would I be on stage to which I always answered, NEVER! I do it for my health and I was born this way. I didn't get this body in the gym nor w/supplements. :)

Meta why would ask someone if they used steroids? That’s pretty much stereotyping. Diablo has been pretty clear he’s been working out naturally for 20 years in his many posts and bio.

My point was that their physiques were enhanced by computer generated images - but also that Gerard Butler & other actors worked out non-stop for that film. I never said it was just makeup.

Don’t forget to add in gender, bone structure etc. We cold be the same height and weight but you’d always have the potential for more muscle than I do (small framed female). But I get your point and am just being ornery! Jheeden, I could be wrong but I think Diablo means ‘healthy’ men of the same height, weight, age etc. My dr thinks my dizzy spells are low blood sugar OR pots. I’ve tried checking but it’s a bit hard to get an accurate reading when it comes on suddenly then goes away before I can get my meter out and test. It usually either a bit high or a bit low which confuses the drs lol. People with health issues will have different experiences than those without health issues. However I’m of the belief that IF we know our issues we can find ways to compensate for or overcome them. Doesn’t mean we will have the same exact result but as far as CICO goes it would be similar if the people were very similar and kept to the same routine and same diet. With small changes for their specific body needs. I don’t think Diablo mean to attack anyone. In the past I’ve noticed he posts things like this when he’s trying to get information out there or when he’s seen other pity type posts or even like the steroids that were mentioned. Maybe a trigger D? I haven’t been seeing many posts from people I know so I can only guess it was one of those things. Oh and I for one would take steroids in a heartbeat IF and only if there was 0 risk and I was guaranteed that they were healthy lol. I’d do just about anything to gain some muscle so I can eat more and do more but I won’t risk my health and while I haven’t researched steroids I have a feeling they wouldn’t be very healthy lol. Just had to add that in there 😉

I wouldn't take roids either, Peeperjj. I did, however, work w/managers/owners of fitness clubs that did and were. They were in the military too or involved in mixed martial arts professionally. They did win first place, but they were roided out. The only reason I know is bc they told me. I don't stereotype:GibJig and....I NEVER said YOU said they used make-up either. Sheesh. I'm asking Diablo bc I want to know, o.k.? He can answer for himself. He can ignore it too. My word! I am an inquiring mind. I know about fitness/nutrition/exercise/weight-lifting/dieting to compete bc I worked w/it for many years. I also know that nobody can get bulging muscles naturally either. Sure they can be muscular, but not like Mr. Arnold Schwarzenegger (who was one of my idols for many years and still is). :)

Jheeden, medical conditions requiring a certain diet doesn't debunk CICO. Follow your doctor's orders for sure, but certain macros don't contain extra energy because they cause medical issues in certain people.
