Question for my keto or super low carbers that do not currently log calories because they eat keto.

Will you eat keto rest of your life?
What’s your maintenance plan?
What happens if you need to start counting and tracking?

This plan works for me as I also do a 16-8 fast 2xs a week and fast 2x week. Being retired no need for me to eat 3 meals a day. Workout everyday via fast walking (in my house during covid!) and this is a plan for me going forward. Find what fits for you and then it won't be work. Keto is a workable plan and I also was introduced to this by my doctor for a weight loss plan so I feel good that I am being monitored. Starches are my nemisis in my history and I knew it was trouble for me to eat that kind of food. I have eaten every kind of food and been there done that so I love cooking creativly and supported by family and we all eat well!

Hi, oh I’m experienced in what works for me. Personally I track when I attempt to “lose” which in my case is fat loss and muscle gain and unfortunately does not equate to pounds lost but I build muscle. I know my maintenance and can go long periods without tracking and gaining. I eat what I eat always, it never changes and mainly watch how many kcals I consume. I’m curious as to how long people intend to IF and not eat carbs. I tried but it was too rigid so I chose a flexible and sensible way to eat that includes bread, sweets and alcohol when needed lol.

I do log. I think many people who are keto log. It is a way to keep an eye on carbs and also amounts of food. I lost all my weight and then some on keto and have maintained for over a year so far. I like it as I think I do very well on it and feel good about my choices. Is it for life... maybe.. I am not stressing about that/ I do know I do not want to be fat again

I am a in agrrement with Liv001. I do log and the wieht is coming off so I see the results! I ate this way years ago and then I got lazy and fatness came along... sooo i realized it was easier to do what works for me and my body. Some folks can find it restricting and I totally understand. Seems for me to be easy and not complicated. Good luck in finding your path to heathy eating and well being!

Hello Lowkeylife. I personally don't believe in keto because it is not sustainable long-term, and it really isn't healthy to cut carbs lower than 100g a day. I do strictly limit my simple carbs to only fruit, but I eat complex carbs, high fiber, and protein every day. Once I have reached my weight goal I will adjust my caloric intake to maintain weight between 135-140 and continue to tone and build muscle. Intermittent fasting is something I plan to continue longterm because of the health benefits. I don't start eating earlier than 9am and don't eat later than 5pm. I am able to consume the amount of calories I need to sustain my body in that amount of time.

Hi, long term low carb eater since 2017. Not counting anything and maintaining 116 lbs at 5’5”. Started VLC, <40-50g but in maintenance I think I have been under 100g most days. Some days lower, some days higher. Eating veg, fruit, bread. Just staying away from most highly processed foods and oils. Also in the gym building muscle and outside walking.

If I get to my goal, I'll stick with intermittent fasting or one meal. day for two reason. #1 if I give myself no permission to eat whenever, it quickly turns into whatever. #2 it is so much easier to shop and plan for one meal a day with a protein shake thrown in so I can meet my protein goals.

I do dirty keto and IF is the best thing that ever happend to me and I do log as well. For me it will be a forever thing I find it sustainable but I will probably modify it a little more after reaching my goal. maybe fast 3 days instead of 6 increase carbs a little and start lifting to tone and maintain.

So my question was out of curiosity. I’m not eating keto or low carb. I stay within my calories and focus on protein. I don’t diet or so anything that I can’t “take on vacation”. I was curious as to what people’s plan was who are keto and don’t log; IF’ffers, OMAD’ers, water fasters? What’s the plan once you reach goal? Will you then need to learn to track?

This is hilarious. I’m low carb, sometimes, because I try, but suck some days. Who knows what the future holds. I’m hoping that I can get to Spring and my weight goal. I guess that’s as far as I’m looking for now.. and of course, it’s an every day struggle.. I’m hungry after I’m done eating for the day..... struggle is painfully real. I’m trying to just eat less in AM, more closest to my stop time....then shoot glares of solid steel to my hubby that glances over and innocently asks after 8pm..if I want a handful of what he’s shoving in his face..
