Frito chili pie on a brrrrr cold day! 21 tonight! Sorry it’s half eaten before I took this. Ate most of the meat first.

Silly men. Yep I ate a ton of it first. Almost got a second helping for the picture but knew I’d be stuffed too full trying to eat two helpings. I should mention this is ground elk with pork fat added (butcher said it wouldn’t make sausage and bratwurst without some). I drained the fat after cooking/before eating :).

Any mule deer?!? Those big suckers. . . .come up from Texas and eat crops and whatnot......in these here parts we have rock throwing season starting next week, followed by chair chuckin' to rid our area of the varmits. . .then we move to muzzle loader...followed by Bambi week...where the deer shoot back...

Lol terrapin, we have white tail around here but we don’t have any of that meat at the moment. It’s not something we really care for.

Now Chris, you should broaden your horizons and try something new. It’s actually really good as long as the animals don’t eat a lot of sagebrush. Huge difference in taste from the elk in New Mexico vs Colorado. I’ll let ya know when we have frog legs, opossum and squirrel. I’ll let you guess which of those I’ve actually had!

Yep, not really in season yet. is Colorado elk lass gamey or mineral tasting?

With the pork fat added it tastes almost like beef. No game taste. The one we got from New Mexico tasted like sagebrush smells.
