Debbie Cousins's Journal, 30 October 2019

Today is not starting out well. It's only 9:30am, and already I've had a Tapioca Pudding, 6 saltine crackers with 1/3 cup of chicken salad on them, a can of Diet Coke and an Atkins Endulge Chocolate Coconut Bar. I feel like just eating anything I want today -- recording it, but just eating whatever! Usually I start out the day well and do well all through the day until bedtime. When I can't go to sleep, I get back up and eat more, even though I've stayed within my Calories for the day and that last snack puts me over.

Last night, I had finished eating for the day and was within my Calories -- but, then, my husband started having severe chest pains, radiating down his left arm. I called 911 and the rescue squad came. His EKG was normal and all other vitals good, so he declined to go to the hospital. After the scare, I had a tapioca pudding (which I felt like I "deserved") and went to bed. After two hours of trying to go to sleep, I finally got up and had a small bowl of grapes.

I just can't seem to get my old mojo back in the eating arena! Just typing about all this makes me want to go and eat MORE! Even if I go back to bed now (my best way to avoid eating), I still have to wake back up to a 423 calorie deficit already used for the day. I wish I could just go back to sleep and wake up TOMORROW!

When that happens to me, I prelog my day and enter everything I think I want (no matter how outrageous), and then whittle it down to whats in line with my RDI. It helps! Sometimes I still go over, but it would be way worse without that to help me. Glad your husband is ok!

I also prelog. It sure does help. You'll find that mojo Debbie. Have you spoken with a dr about the insomnia?

You are definitely stress eating! Do you have alternate plans in mind when you get stressed out? I know that helps me, if I have activities in the wings that I do instead of eating. I also don't usually have stuff in my house that I shouldn't eat but I live alone which has its own problems.

Tapioca pudding is a trigger food for you. I'm also struggling. I feel you.

That's a tough day. I know you'll find your mojo. It's now tomorrow and Halloween. Have great day.

Maybe get the pudding and grapes out of the house. If you only have healthy choices, then it really comes down to whether you're really hungry.
