Texasgranny6's Journal, 12 September 2018

fASTING A.M. bs = 136; WEIGHT =174.8. Monday evening my BS was 112, so I skipped Januvia at bedtime. Tuesday morning it was 117. I am getting there! But since I sabotaged myself last night, I took all bedtime meds. I WILL behave today!

Got out before breakfast and planted cabbage and broccoli. We've now had enough rain that soil has recovered and only in a few spots did I find any dry soil. Why there were still a couple of dry spots I can't figure out! My banana peppers have recovered. All summer they produced tiny shriveled fruit, but today I gathered quality peppers. Reminds me of an old Kingston Trio song about goings on in the country, with the phrase "and Texas needs rain." Seems like everywhere else it has to flood before we get as much rain as we need.
Bedtime: BS = 115; total cals =1621; 74/11/15 macros; net carbs = 38.35. Don't want to take Januvia with BS at 115, so I ate a piece of cheese to keep from getting too low during night. I haven't learned the correct balance yet -- I need to learn how my body functions overnight with these lower readings. Will have to experiment some to find out. Maybe I don't need that bedtime snack. Maybe I just need to trust it won't get too low. I worry I'll wake up with like 70 or lower, but I'm probably not there yet!

Of course now we are getting way more than we need in San Antonio! It is either feast or famine with the rain around here and the tropical disturbance is going to be more heavy rain! Glad to hear your pepper plants are recovered!

Stay safe down there! It rained on us most of the way to Lubbock on Friday. Coming back home on Sunday it seemed as if the whole countryside had greened up! It was easy to see who had the rains earlier in the week.

I think you need to learn how to make keto deserts so you don't feel like you have to endulge in the bad ones. it really messes up your blood sugar. while most don't have a lot of fruit some do have blueberries in them, the cheese cakes ones are awesome from what I heard. myself I am a chocolate nut.

The cheesecake fat bombs are awesome. I add a little cocoa because I'm a chocoholic too. My recipe calls for frozen, so mine aren't portable. Most of the time I fall for desserts is when I don't have anything planned ahead and throw caution to the winds. There are lots of legal desserts out there, I just need to always have the alternative one with me! I do need to look for some portable alternatives.

BlueFront, there are two good things about weeds: they give you lots of exercise when you mow them or pull them, and they keep the dry soil from blowing away while you wait for the rains. :-) baskington, it must be so frustrating to be allergic to many things. During my 40s I was allergic to beef and tomatoes and had to give them up -- nearly everything good has tomatoes in it, or beef. After years of allergy shots and abstaining from tomatoes and beef, I found I could tolerate them as long as I didn't make a steady diet of them. I'm watching this beef and butter thing to make sure I don't over eat on the beef. I plan in alternatives. I guess I really need to consider sugar as an allergen and maybe then I could leave the desserts alone!
