So somebody fill me in on the benefits of fasting?

As far as doing prolonged fasting as in days, I see it more as detrimental. I would say you have a higher chance of losing lean body mass especially once you go over the 36 hour period. You're going too long without sufficient protein to retain muscle. A daily 16 hour fast should be enough, maybe a little longer if you want.

No scientific peer-reviewed studies backing up that page just studies on rats... We are humans.

What he said. I do 16/8 everyday unless my schedule changes. It helps me cap my eating easier. It supposedly blunts hunger, raises growth hormone, lowers trigs, stabilizes insulin levels (diabetics) and some other stuff...

I love intermittent fasting because it allows me to eat bigger meals. I still get to eat same amounts as like when obese but I use my nutrition knowledge and I eat less meals a day πŸ˜πŸ™ŒπŸΌ

if your calorie deficit is too low you do lose muscle 😒

Like Cb1006, I just use 16/8 intermittent fasting to make it easier to eat less and stop snacking at night. It fits me. If there are other benefits, I'm unaware of them and probably wouldn't put much stock in them, anyway. LOL

What I find funny is that the old advice used to be eat more often to keep your metabolism going, now it's the opposite. I mean, people did just fine losing fat when they ate every 3 hours. Now some are doing OMAD. The truth of fat loss has been in our face the entire time, CICO. Use whatever technique you want to reach your calorie goals. HCLF or LCHF. IF or 6 meals a day, it matters not what matters is your long-term adherence.

All good info! I’m failing at meeting my goal this week again I’m afraid. I don’t think fasting will be my answer. Lost control these last few weeks. To fix it I need to; stop alcohol, eat only when I’m hungry,no eating late at night! Thanks again for sharing all your Fat Secrets!
