My family (and my in-laws) keeps trying to derail my efforts to lose weight. I went fishing yesterday with the hubby, my boys, my aunt and my nephew. My aunt kept offering me things and I kept telling her I didn't want them, that I was on a diet. She kept pushing them on me. I wanted to say "How many times do I have to tell you???" I DON'T WANT IT!!!!! The only thing I had that she offered was a Dr. Pepper. I normally drink diet but she only had regular. I've been trying to cut down on the soda but the headaches have been terrible. I'm going to have to wean myself off slow. People keep offering me junk and I continually tell them I don't want it, that it has too many calories for me. They always say just 1 won't kill you. Yeah right.... Just 1 is why I'm so fat. I don't want even 1. Leave me the heck alone please and thank you.....

Good for you! I am proud of you for resisting. You know, there are a lot of people out there who offer love and concern through food. They offer us things thinking it will make us feel cared for when all it really does is derail our efforts. And you're right, "just one" is why we are fat. I also have to fight family and friends when they offer me food they clearly know is not on my diet. These are the same people who are concerned about my weight! Geesh! They need to stop. I am glad you are winning the battle. Your weight history keeps going down. Good for you!

I need to try that. I'm allergic to being fat, I can't eat that.. :)

It may also be worthwile to just flat out tell them: 'No! and please do not ask me again, if I want something I will let you know.' Yeah, ditch the soda for water and you will feel better in a few days.

I tried to quit cold-turkey. That was a mistake, I felt horrible. Next I will go down to 1 a day and then go from there. I was worried before about quitting soda because I relied so heavily on food, I didn't think I could do both at once. Now that I'm eating a lot better I can get rid of the soda.

it's frustrating when folks don't understand why you can't have just one with them. Yeah, you want me to have just one burger with you for lunch, then another friend wants me to have just one bag of popcorn at the movies, and another friend wants me to have just one margarita night, and another wants just one piece of birthday cake or ice cream. It may be just one with each of 5 people, but you end up indulging 5 times!

I get a lot of flak from waitresses, too, when I don't finish something and I don't want a to go box, or if I order something but ask for no bread/chips/fries, etc. I need to bring a sign when I go to Mexican restaurants that says in big bold letters, "NO CHIPS AND SALSA, PLEASE!" Otherwise, every 5 minutes, somebody brings another basket and I have to turn them away again, lol. But if I tell them I am allergic, they usually leave me alone.
