I just had an Aha! moment. I'm hoping processing my thoughts here will help me break the pattern. I think one of the big reasons I'm struggling right now is, I've been here before. Twenty lbs is where I've stopped every other time I've lost weight. So,if I stop now I'll probably end up back where I started. If I can get myself to keep going and reach my goal. I think I'm more likely to keep it off.

I've had a couple friends who are trying to be helpful, but are inadvertently hurtful. I've said that I wanted to wait until May to start trying on dresses for my daughter's wedding. (Her wedding is in July.) One friend suggested I start looking at what Oprah wears, so I could see what looks good on "Plus size women". I didn't plan on being a Plus-size for the wedding. I don't think people believe I can do this. Now that's shaken my confidence that I can.

Thank you, Roleba64, Fearisha, and Linmi21 for your encouragement. The sun is shining today, the snow is melting. I think I'm going to go out for a long walk. Then come home and find that picture to put on the refrigerator...

There ya go! Don't let anyone tell you you can't do something :) Trust me the picture thing does work most days. When I go hunting for something to eat I look at my pic, and say I won't get there if I eat this. Then I say, lets make a better decision. :) Good luck, we all know you can do this. Try shifting your calories around too, if you can. When your body gets use to certain meals or certain amounts of calories per day. Then that is when it tends to get to a plateau, I believe in the articles I have read.

Oh an another thing. You have to make sure you eat at least 1200 calories per day for a woman and 1800 per day for a man. I know your body will work better to lose weight if you stay a bit over this limit. If not eating that much calories then our bodies go in to starvation mode which then it holds onto what it needs and then we don't lose weight. I read too many articles haha!!

It sounds like you are working through this nicely...don't let anyone tell you that you cannot do this! I am sure a good walk outside in the sunny weather will help raise your spirits. You CAN do this - 20 pounds is great and it shows you can make things happen. Good luck!
