I did a 5min warmup walk (3mi/hr), followed by brisk walk for 2min(3mi/hr) and jog for 1min(4.5mi/hr)for a total of 30min. Then I did a 5min cooldown for a grand total of 2miles in 40min. This is my starting point.

My goal is to continue 5min warmup and 5min cooldown with 30min run/walk intervals. 5k run is my big goal which is 3.2miles.

My shins already hurt though :( Next time i'll take it a little slower and walk 4min and run 1min intervals.

Your walk/jog was almost exactly what I did today! Be careful you don't develop shin splints, I've had those twice, very painful :(
