Love the equanimity. And she's right! It is rude to be hot! #TSFH

Right thinking. Your co-worker doesn't sound very understanding of the situation and where your priorities are. Good luck.

Never know what these people's houses look like or how it was prepared. Someone brought in a dish full of cat hair and they blew it off saying the cat is always on the counter. So I haven't done a pot luck in years.

Thank you Jimmiepop. I had to look that one up. :) ----- e·qua·nim·i·ty---ˌekwəˈnimədē --- noun: equanimity--- mental calmness, composure, and evenness of temper, especially in a difficult situation

Whenever we have a Pot Luck and I see the assortment of foods..."no..no...no...yes..no...no...maybe...no...no". After a quick scan, I find something I can eat, if not...i'll just hang around and chat.

If you follow your co-worker's idea of what is rude, I suppose even if you were allergic to a food you should eat it anyway for the sake of politeness. People do get into some weird notions that rejecting food that someone else prepared is somehow rejecting THEM. You are right to stick to your plan!

You're a better man than I am, Mahjohn. I look for the cheesecake first thing. "I'll try anything once - maybe twice."

Potluck, hmmm.........I am funny about eating dishes people prepared in their home kitchens. In fact, I am funny about eating food prepared in restaurants too. You should of told that co-worker that it's rude to be in someone's business. What nerve. The food is there to eat or not to eat.........you decide not them. Don't put crappy food into your system just to pacify them.

Engeland, I agree. I don't really care what other people say/think anyway. Kppgreen, keep doing what you know is right for you.

There is nothing wrong with eating bacon on a diet -- it's fat and protein. But yes, it is also sodium and, if you don't look for uncured bacon, also nitrates and nitrites in big supply. Consider this: Last week I was in the hospital for about 30 hours because of a kidney stone. The entire 30 hours, although I ate virtually nothing, I was on IV fluids. The next day I weighed myself: Up 8 pounds! It's taken almost a full week to dump that weight.

Perhaps I should've blamed the sodium, not the bacon. I eat bacon every time I eat breakfast, it is a staple in the house. But there does get to a point where it is too much sodium.

a lot of sodium in bacon, so you're not necessarily wrong...though...sometimes you have to make an exception for bacon ;p

Yep......too much is too much, sodium that is. The bloating, sodium overload and nitrates.....I'll pass on the bacon.
