madaboutmoose's Journal, 01 December 2009

I'm still "UP" on the scale but had a decent eating day yesterday. I was grumpy though. And HUNGRY )~: It didn't help that I wasn't very busy at work. I know. I shouldn't complain but when I am not at least semi-busy I get bored and the day just drags. Today is another one of those days. Only Wednesday and Friday are looking busy this week.

So I did Pilates again today. UGH. My legs are strong but some of the moves are nearly impossible for me to accomplish. But I will keep at it. I am going to alternate elliptical and Pilates ... mix things up a bit and see if that helps to move me in a new direction. I sure could feel the soreness in places I hadn't felt it before from this weekend's workout.

You know how I often say we won't ever be "done"? Well ... ladies and gents ... I WANNA be DONE!!! LOL!!! Just a phase I'm going through. Is it the darkness of the days? Is it too many days in a row of overdosing on food? Is it the pre-holiday blues? No clue. I do know it will pass and I can't let my feelings determine what I chose to do each day. At least I'm aware and not just blindly stumbling through each day. That is an improvement.

So ... while I'm not "feeling" particularly grateful ... here goes ...

Today I am grateful for ...

1. realizing that I am struggling
2. the ability to move my body
3. old friends
4. the time to do a Costco run today
5. upcoming celebrations

I hope the rest of you are feeling less "grumpy" and "funky" than I!!! Have a wonderful day filled with possibilities!!!

Ah, I am in the #1 response slot! Yay! Usually I'm #12 or so here.... ha ha! Yes, I have been feeling less-than-motivated too. I think it's the time of year, really. Ever notice how in spring all you want to do is exercise and get healthy? Cold weather has the opposite effect for me. I want to eat junk food and be lazy. :-) I suppose we must push on though. We've come too far to give in now!

I second that twilightmom. Something about the cold makes it just THAT MUCH HARDER to get up and move - even if it's to keep you warm! We all must forge on - and it's okay to have grump days. As a woman, we at least can always fall back on our woman excuse!

I think this time of year is about maintaining, rather than trying to push ourselves onward and upward. I am glad you are enjoying pilates--I've been interested in it but never tried it myself.

Your doing so great with the pilates - its a really important thing to do for all of us.... I should take my own advice!! I know how you feel about being groggy - I've been in a "funk" since yesterday. Hopefully it will pass soon. Have a great Tuesday!!

Switching things up by adding pilates is the best thing to start losing weight again, of course foods have to be in order! But I agree w/ Erikag, right now we should be enjoying the holidays and fam time if it happens and you are motivated to try new things do it, but don't stress over it... I get the DONE feeling (or wanting to be done) working SO hard for SO long! lol Try to reflect on you being done for some time now, you have maintained well for so long, sure it was ups and downs but you conquered all the ups and shined through all your downs! You are just going through the negative feelings that cheating brings along, I have to name that don't I... I bring it up so often lol Try setting a new goal w/ pilates, like a new move, or rep count and once you conquer that you will feel on top of the world again!! :)

The good news my friends is that the sun is SHINING here in Idaho. It is very chilly out but the blue sky is absolutely gorgeous!! It has lifted my mood already!! Pilates ... you would all be in stitches laughing at me if you could see me try those moves!! But, I am going to stick with it. I know it will strengthen me and it feels so good when I'm DONE!! LOL!!! The woman on the DVD makes it look so easy!! Me? I'm grunting and groaning and complaining loudly through at least half of it!!

Hey go ahead and grunt and groan, as long as you do it. :)

I understand about days dragging when you are not so busy. I used to abhor those days when I worked for someone else and can completely relate to it. Sometimes I wish for them though! LOL Can you imagine? Just one day of no fires to put out! he he he...and yeah, I wanna be done too! I am soooo over not eating exactly what I want. My inner brat and all that! :) Realizing is half the battle...really! The fact that you are allowing your feelings is a huge and wonderful thing. It is so easy to deny them and you are embracing them instead. I am so proud of you! {{{hugs}}} AND I thank you for the comment on today's journal. I truly appreciate you as well! :)))

The physical surroundings in Idaho sound so beautiful as you depict them. Sigh! I love the changing seasons here where I live. We may -- or may not -- have a WHITE Christmas. You were great over on my journal today! Thanks so much.

I love Idaho. When I go to the gym, I always pick the machines closest to the windows so I can look out at my beautiful Idaho. Unfortunately, where my gym is one side is facing an RV park, at least I've got other views, like the mountains around Boise. I've heard it told that you should alternate your workouts to keep challenging your muscles. So, your rotation seems to be a sound idea. I can handle about 5 minutes on an elliptical without collapsing. I'm getting stronger, but I'm not quite ready for a sustained workout on that machine - NICE job!! Don't worry about the holiday blues. If you need a pick me up, you always have us!!
