Hi guys!Good News! This is the last eating holiday till Mother's Day in May :) We have nearly two months of freedom! LOL! Seriously though, how many of you out there who are logging everything, staying on track, working out....dread the eating holidays because they break your routine, test your will power and cause eyebrows to be raised because you say no to your favorite dishes that were made JUST FOR YOU? I am one. I get into a groove and I get irritated when it gets disrupted. I love my family, but they just can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact that I can't eat the way I used to. They would be more understanding if I had a disease like diabetes, MS, IBD, or diverticulitis. I don't get it, I am changing the way I eat to AVOID these diseases why is it more acceptable to change your diet after you are diagnosed with a disease, but not when you are healthy but overweight, even though you are headed for one or more of the chronic obesity related diseases???

Yessss "eating" holidays are irritating, and I hear you on the routine thing. And now you've got me thinking - since I'm the matriarch of our clan at the moment, *I* get to pick what we eat on Mother's Day...I'm thinking sushi :-) I can stay on track AND have a treat - and frankly, I find Japanese desserts easy to pass up, so I won't even be tempted! :-)

Me too! I want you to know that I made a carrot cake, too .. on Easter. I DID NOT eat any of it ... AND, I gave most of the cake away to the neighbors. I truly did. It doesn't mean I was golden. *guilty of falling into an Easter basket with my mouth open* I put the basket up on a high shelf for others to part-take in with instructions NOT to offer me anymore.

LOL, I don't know that I would have been able to pass up Carrot Cake, it's one of my favorites and there is that whole "but it has CARROTS in it, it has to be healthy" thing. It's amazing how we can justify anything if we want to :) Good Job!

Do you thing, baby! You will be the one to be well in the end. I hate disrupting my routine, too, but we must spring back!

I had black forest cake. :) Otherwise, the main addiction at my son's was coffee. I fit right in. Come one guys. Just one cigarette. Come on, just one. (Some can some can't, I usually don't.) Proud of your fortitude. I've been there and appreciate your determination. It's to be applauded. Some day you'll be able to have carrot cake or whatever, but you'll find you have a piece and go 'Now, why was this such a big deal? Why would I have the second... third... fourth helping?" Good for you guys. I'm behind you.

Debra, if I understand the news correctly, we're all practically pre-diabetic here in America these days. Claim that!

Lol. Sorry hunter. I tried to get the habit in my 20s. It didn't take. I got lucky. I have the occasional cigar.

Wow, interesting this thread turned to smoking, LOL I just posted about hubby's quitting cold turkey on Sunday. It's gotta be a timing thing right? I quit six years ago after I was hospitalized with fluid on my lungs, you can only be in denial about an addiction for so long. And yes NM, the c'mon just one piece won't hurt you thing was exactly what I was talking about. They truly have no idea how I struggled getting the cravings back under control, and I know just one bite right now would bring the dogs of war howling back at my door. Maybe in the future, but not right now.
