I have a love/hate relationshhip with bras. Something I just recently started thinking about again. As I gained weight I grew out of most of my bras. I didn't really care too much, in fact once I discovered the "sports" bra I was a happy camper, no matter how big my boobs were. They were comfortable, so comfortable I could actually sleep in them. No straps digging into my shoulders, no underwire digging into my ribs, no harsh red marks all over my skin, no wires popping out and stabbing me in tender places. Course my figure looked kinda like the stay puff marshmallow man, a roll of boobs, and my stomach roll, then the roll around my hips. Not attractive at all.

I always hated having large boobs. I could never find any cute bra/panty sets cause most of those were for B and C cup girls, not for someone with a D or DD. Now as I started to lose the weight I again ventured out into bra-land and the slow laborous process of trying to find a real bra that fit, covered everything, and didn't have slippage when I jump or move. Most of these trips left me angry, depressed and disappointed. Lost 50 lbs but the boobs were still a DD, sure everyone else loses there first, but not me. Finally found a nice enough bra a month ago, but it has underwire which I hate. So I don't wear it often. This week I had to venture out again to find yet another bra, this one had to be pink (promoting breast cancer at our theater so yea), have I mentioned how i despise shopping for clothing? So I took in 3 bras, ranging from 38D to 42C...No DD's were to be found in something pink and attractive. Why do all large bra's have to look so much like a uniform w/o any cute jewels or designs or anything? Just look like a million yards of ugly fabric with 10,000 hoooks. Bleh. Anyhow I digress...One bra happened to look ok and that was a the 42C. However the other two were D cups and the cups were too small..vanity sizing strikes again, so I still have no idea what my true size is.

Anyway....my point is....no matter how happy I am to fit into a C, and how happy I am that I now have a cute pink bra, and the bra's make my figure look outstanding, I'd rather be comfortable in a sports bra that makes me figure look like total hell. In my head I am thinking I should be ditching the sports bras as I've done with all my larger clothing, but on the other end of that should I get rid of the only type of bra that actually is comfortable even though it makes my figure look terrible? Fashion or comfort?

Right now I'm dreaming of going out to my car and putting on the sports bra from my gym bag and taking this pink underwire torture device off!

Well I sacrifice comfort when I go out of the house, I have 1 bra that fits me perfectly and that I love, and am rather sad that it will more than likely get too big, although I don't seem to lose a whole lot of boobage as I lose weight. I have another one that is OK, I don't love it though so I hardly wear it. IfI am going to the gym, or am bumming around my house I go for the sports bra. I can't handle my boobs almost slapping me in the face when I am at the gym and the sports bra (although its doubled up to keep the girls in place) is the best thing to keep them contained. I think depending on the situation that you should go with what your comfortable with - of course sometimes sports bras just don't work - like formal outfits etc.

Pixie, nice to know I'm not the only person who loses last in the boob area. I though it was just me! If I didn't care how dumpy I looked in a sports bra I'd never wear anything else to be honest. I'm thinking most of the fashions i hate were designed by men to make us look more attractive to them. High heels, push up bras, tight clothing...

Finding a good fitting and confortable bra is hard to do.Might be time to go to one of the better bra stores and get fitted.I just did at an outlet mall in upstate NY.I was really surprised at the size.
