RN16's Journal, 15 February 2024

I only have 2 more bottles of wine left to drink. Once I drink those 2 bottles, I won't be drinking for awhile, because I'm thinking the wine has contributed to the weight gain along with not eating as healthy as I once was and really watching what I ate

Wine not a calorie load? Chianti the driest red I can find?

Why dont you just throw it away? Because you have something that is not beneficial in your health journey in your house doesnt mean you have to drink it. Gift it or throw it away. It’s just that many more calories to work off. That is exactly how i approach my new found health. I cannot control myself with foods that i find tempting so i don’t keep tempting things in the house and if someone else brings them in they go in the garbage or home with that person. Good luck in your journey

No need to drink it if it is contributing to your weight gain. Wine doesn’t go bad. You can put it away for months or even years or Wait until a special occasion or get Together so you can share with friends and just have one or two glasses and then the bottle will Be gone. My wine rack in the garage is full plus I have 4 additional bottles because I go so much for Xmas but I’ll just let it sit. The last time I had wine was mid December and then I had 2 glasses a couple weeks ago and I felt terrible so I decided to put it away for who knows how long. No know I feel better without it and without it I have lost weight. Do what’s best for you, just sharing my experience and insight. 💜

I would stash it and leave it as a present for when you reach a goal? You could say I will share one bottle with me and the hubby when I lose 20lbs.. that way you incentivise yourself with a llittle treat, and you put off sabotaging yourself now? You cuuld say I will share the 2nd with me and a couple of friends when I lose the next 10lbs.. that way you build it into your motivation, and by sharing it you will not be adding 100s of calories oon to your efforts? I usually set myself little treats after goasl are reached, I am trying now to switcch from alcohol/ socialising ones to cultlural treats or experiences I want to try, by not indulging in costly boozing or restaurant meals, I save the money to spend on those treats, thats a win win!! And great motivvator. Plus its just not the booxze its the bad choices made alongside, the lethargy lack of energy lack of motivation and bad food/ snack choices it all adds up to a circular failure. Try to look at it in a new light, as a postive to yourself, and the new clothes you will look fab in, rather than a denial or a punishment. Mindset is everything try to reset your thinking. Best of luck hun x

I don't share the same opinion as others, but I'll add my 2 cents. Anything consumed in abundance isn't a good idea. Moderation is the best policy. So, what I would do, is have some once in a while. Try to discipline yourself to maybe just a glass or two a week. In fact, red wine has a high amount of polyphenols. If you're worried about the unnecessary calorie or sugar intake, by all means, place your focus on other foods, but in my opinion a glass of wine should keep anyone from losing weight.

***edit - should NOT keep anyone from losing***

After I drink this bottle, I'll probably just give the last bottle away. I've only been drinking a glass in a half of wine most evenings. I just didn't want to waste my money and when I looked it up before it said wine can go bad after 2 years or so and it's been 2 years or so since I had those bottles of wine, because I stopped drinking it for my weight loss journey.

Year of Health exactly my thoughts. Out of sight out of mind for anything food or alcohol. (Or bad relationships) lol. I can’t buy more than an oil can of beer when I drink. Any 375ml or higher hard liquor containers and I’m done for. May sound picky but if you add up all the calories you consumed in a year (alcohol related) it would easily equal several pounds for most light to moderate drinkers.

If the wine won't tempt you - keep it as I have had wine for years and still drink it. Mine are stored in a wine rack in a cool basement so that helps. Things that I can have control over I allow myself to have as long as it fits my macros. Things I cannot have control over I do as YOH does and throw them away. For example I cannot stay away from sweets. I either take it to work for people to have or if that is not an option throw it in the garbage so that I won't touch it. But you do what works for you as we are all different in our journey. Good luck!
