Had a tough day with hunger yesterday. I ended up going just slightly over my total net carb goal slightly (52.41 gm) but had a hard time getting enough calories. I really have to eat more meat I guess, but I never was a big meat eater. I don't eat beef, occasionally I'll have pork, but mostly chicken and fish. I'm gonna boil up a dozen eggs just to keep in the fridge. I also bought some EAS and Atkins shakes. I'm gonna try to eat every 2-3 hrs today to see if that helps.

i some times go over up to 10 net carbs .. as long as they are good carbs, i try not to sweat it too much. I also sometimes feel really hungry but mostly when I work out heavily. Try and drink a few more glasses of water to fill you up or broth and by all means, eat if your hungry.. Good luck

One thing that really satisfies hunger is fat! Yes, I know, you think it's bad for you, but it really isn't. Animal fat, coconut oil, heavy cream (or whipping cream, same thing) is good for you. I did the Atkins diet before and found it lacking in taste. I love a good steak, pork chop, chicken, fish, etc., but had a hard time adding enough flavour without adding carbs. So instead, I hit it hard with Frank's Hot Sauce, Extra Hot and graduated to Death Sauce (extreme capsaicin!), but even tired of that. I learned a little while ago about the Ketogenic Diet, which is quite similar to Atkins, but is heavy on fat calories, moderate on protein and cut out the carbs, 20 grams (net) or less. Seemed like a good diet, listened to many who were successfully adapting it to their lifestyle, but had a difficult time adapting it to mine. I drive a truck and am gone from home for days, even a week or more at a time, so I have to make and freeze all my meals. My wife and I found a Ketogenic Cookbook (that's what it's called) at Costco recently and after perusing the pages, realized that it was not only easy, but there were few recipes I wouldn't like! How often does that happen? Now we've adapted it, entered ketosis and eat full flavoured, fat laden, extremely low carb meals that are amazing. Yesterday for breakfast, one of the things on my plate was prosciutto wrapped string cheese fried in butter and coconut oil. I dipped them in a home made, no carb ranch dressing and wow, the flavour was out of this world! The answers ARE out there!

One additional comment on carbs: keep them low. A couple of days ago, my wife was starving all day even though she consumed more than 3000 calories! Her carb count was just over 50 grams for the day though and this triggered her hunger. The next day her carbs were just over 20 and she felt full and didn't break 2000 calories. Carb consumption triggers hunger, so banish the carbs!

Thank you for the great advice. I will look for the cookbook. You are right about needing flavor. I grew up in the south and we always ate our food "well seasoned."
