If it's family- sit down and have a conversation with them that you are serious about your weight loss plan and let them know that you love them, but you can't watch them eat things that you can't... then escape to the gym or go for a walk while they eat and clean up! Go to a library even if you already worked out and just aren't into it. If it's close friends- you can get away with the same thing- OR bring your own food if it's a gathering. Just tell them, I'm on a diet and I have to take it seriously, but I wanted to be with you guys and party down, too! Then exert some extreme will power. Carry a picture of some ideal you want to be and put it in your pocket and glimpe it when you feel weak. If your forced to dine on what they dine on- watch your portions and choices very carefully. Chose to sit near a mirror that you can see yourself eat in and pick slowly at your food (sneak a bunch to a dog under the table if it's there!). If you just can't do it, don't feel strong enough, invite them to go somewhere active with you- a park, bowling, etc. When your concerned about your health and people love you enough, they'll respect your choices and want to help you. It's never rude to want to be alive longer to spend more time with those you love.
