It seemed barbaric to me. I applied and qualified once, but bailed out. I just couldn't do it. I wish her well, but so sorry she's going through it.

Would one of those semaglutide drugs have been an option for her?
There’s someone on here who is doing that and having great success. Forgot who but there is an “m” in the name

She had the surgery this morning, there's no going back. She's in her fifties. All I can do is hope and pray that this works for her.

I take semaglutide (ozempic) which helped me loose 21 pounds but took a year now mounjaro works better.and until I got this app and quit drinking soda I've lost 14lbs in a month but I have a long way to go before I would be considered healthy even though I will be healthier than I was. I've saw lots of friends have this done and did great I just had a problem with smoking cigarettes so I don't qualify for it until I can quit them and by then I may be able to loose it on my own since I lost 110 lbs before hopefully I can loose that much and little more. praying for her to have a great surgery and recovery

Sending healing energy for her. Any surgery scares me. I fantasize about surgery (or surgeries), loose skin, and say if they cut this or that off I’d weigh less. Recently read about liposuction and the advancement and think get some sucked out of belly, then think what it something goes wrong. I understand why she’s trying this. Wish her the best in the journey.

My daughter in-law went through this about a year and a half ago. She was really struggling with multiple health issues and went through a pregnancy just afterward. She struggled with the adjustment but is now doing splendidly. The hardest part for her was reaching the protein requirements while only being able to eat really tiny amounts of food. Sending good luck to you and your family. 😊

My DIL had the surgery a few years ago. All the restrictions were hard at first but she lost over 100 lbs and is doing well

The advice I would give her is to develop a WOE that will carry her through after she loses the weight. Maybe see a nutritionist. My daughter-in-law had the surgery, lost a lot of weight & gained some back (more than she wanted). She did eventually lose some again but has never gotten back to her previous low. I don't find her WOE conducive to healrhy maintenance.
