Red porch, they did not do x-ray, saying that my oxygen level was at 97%. I tried to explain that I had been doing my nebulizer and that it may not be a true reading but it was quick care so who knows...my regular Dr has cancer and the other Dr in his office is overwhelmed with patients so I was unable to see either of them. I still feel compromised but am able to breathe a bit better. 💜

Ask your doctor about allergy therapy (allergy shots). I really help for me, similar situation with asthma.

That sounds so scary! Glad you didn't have to go to the E/R at 4am. I don't have asthma, but my allergist tested me for it a couple times. Close, but luckily not that bad. My allergies were so bad when I moved here that I started with allergy shots and kept up with them for about 7 years. Now I am usually okay if I remembered to take Zyrtec. Also, whenever I do any raking or yard work I take a shower and wash my hair and put all my clothes in the washer. All that to make sure I don't get pollen or other allergens on my pillows or furniture. It's been windy the last 2 days and I spent time weed wacking and really paid for it! I had to take a stronger antihistamine because my eyes were so bad. Its a tough time of year. Hope you are able to minimize your symptoms.

Sweet Diana, I have been dealing with lung disease for ten years, my daughter was born with high risk asthma. She was in and out of the hospital for about the first 13 years of her life. You must be forceful with drs. I can’t tell you how many times she would get bronchitis or pneumonia and her primary care would say she had congestion and send us home and we would be back within 48 hours and guess what. Yep. Bronchitis or pneumonia or both which would provoke her asthma for weeks and weeks. I found my voice at about year 6 with her. You can demand even at urgent care, an X-ray. Be vocal. The nebulizer may indeed affect your oxygen numbers. Something that may help is to do a nebulizer treatment proactively every six hours or so depending on how you are feeling. Are you wheezing? Asthma is no joke it’s a very serious problem when it acts up. Also make sure you are drinking warm soothing drinks for your throat. Honey and ginger helps. Don’t forget about steam as well. You can turn hot shower on and shut the door get it really steamy. Not trying to overstep but two years ago i was having so many issues breathing i thought i was dying. They did try and hospitalize me but covid was new and i was scared so signed out ama. Hospital is 7 minutes from my house tho. Please advocate for yourself. Steam your lungs. Do treatments before you think you need them if you are in an episodic period which sounds like you are. Will be sending prayers your way. Sorry to be so bossy I’m worried for you.

Year of health, I am so sick still. I've been doing all the things you suggested. I never had asthma as a child, I got it in my 30s. It was pretty bad when I was a teacher and I got everything the kids had. After retirement I was able to keep it under control until now. I haven't felt this bad in a long time.

Diana i wish i didn’t understand but i do. Do you have a standup freezer? Alternating steam with cold helps a little. Fluids are incredibly important. Are you coughing? If you are getting worse get yourself right back to that urgent care and demand an X-ray. How long have you been on prednisone?

On the good news side if your o2 sats are between 95 and 100 that’s considered “normal” even tho if it is hard to get a full breath…

I have asthma due to allergies as well and it’s known to get worse with age. I see a pulmonologist and she has me on a regimen that really works and has reduced instances where my asthma kicks in and then turns into a nasty infection. There are daily inhalers like Brio and Treligy that really help in addition to a rescue inhaler. PM me if you want the full regimen of what I take.

Cheesegobbler, thanks. I still feel awful but I'm hoping meds will kick in by tomorrow. If not gonna head back to Dr. 💜💜💜🙏🙏 Amwest, I used to take Brio. I thought I had control of it but guess this year has had so much pollen etc that it has flared it up.💜Yearofhealth, I started Prednisone yesterday. Did have ginger, honey tea really hot, and it did help!💜

Checking in on you. Are you feeling any better today?

Praying for you! I'm a severe chronic asthmatic myself. Prednisone is the reason I am as large as I am. I was in the hospital 5 times in 3 months for my asthma before. Finally have it under control and REFUSE to ever go on prednisone again! It's am amazing drug but the side effects are horrible. If you ever need help or tips dealing with it, feel free to hit me up.

Yearofhealth, I still feel horrible. My husband wants to take me to hospital. I am only sleeping 1-2 hours a night, I keep having asthma attacks, even though I'm on Prednisone, singular, using my nebulizer 3xs daily, and also using my inhaler. I just feel awful. Oh and a new thing, woke up yesterday to my right eye swollen shut. I called Dr and he prescribed an antibiotic and steroid eye drops but so far it's not better. I'm a mess!

SadaroDawn, thank you that is very sweet of you to offer. I'm familiar with all the side effects of steroids as I used to be on them when my asthma first started. I just felt like in this case I have no choice. I can barely breathe. 💜

Diana, your husband is right!!!!!!! Go to the hospital. Demand an X-ray. Do you have a pulmonary doctor? Prednisone is also why i put so much weight on but unfortunately it is the most effective drug to help when lungs are restricted. Please go to hospital. Go now while it is am. You should be feeling some relief by now and you are not. Do you have a humidifier in the room you spend most time in? Put in your smallest room and shut the door. Steam right? Go go go to hospital. X-ray. Please keep me posted. You may just be having a prolonged bout but you may have an additional medical problem. Prayers and mental hugs for you.

Also-thought, is there any possibility that there is black mold in your living area? We built a house and within a year my lungs were getting worse and worse when i went to bed. My husband insisted there may be mold and he was right. We had a remediation team out and the glass installers for our master shower hadn’t sealed the screws after installing and that small amount of water got in behind the shower and spread. Black mold. $10,000 to have remediated and repaired but quit having so manny issues at night in bedroom. Just a thought

Bearnoggin, thank you! Finally was diagnosed with asthma induced bronchial pneumonia, severe sinus infection, conjunctivitis, and ear infection. Got put in stronger meds and today I feel slightly better. I was able to do a load of laundry! Big feat for me! Hope you are well!💜💜🙏

OH NO! Diana, it’s like what happened when my daughter was young. I would know it was bronchitis or pneumonia and it was but would take them multiple visits over days till i started insisting on X-ray or meds for both. She still has this issue as an adult and she is both an rn and a d.n.p. And knows her body. But has to fight when she gets ill as otherwise it can take up to a week and 2-3 dr visits for docs to give her diagnosis. Asthma has so many higher risks for other respiratory problems when flared up. You shoul start getting better soon i hope. God bless you. Rest up and hydrate sweet girl.
