Excerpt below from article by Dr. Dean Ornish...very famous cardiologist.. in today's New York Times...the Times is not exactly a bastion of bad science.....all you Atkins proponents might want to take a look and read the entire article ...link below ...many wealthy people now like Bill Clinton are vegan...there is a reason for that...they have access to the best medical care...like from docs like Dr. Ornish....my nephrologist, also a brilliant and wealthy MD is a vegan..at least consider reducing your meat intake....its a killer...promotes cardiovascular disease...

"The debate is not as simple as low-fat versus low-carb. Research shows that animal protein may significantly increase the risk of premature mortality from all causes, among them cardiovascular disease, cancer and Type 2 diabetes. Heavy consumption of saturated fat and trans fats may double the risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease."
