Kenna Morton's Journal, 22 August 2022

Today my neighbors asked me to pick up a medication from the pharmacy for them. Turns out it was not covered by insurance and it was $96. I thought wow, that’s a lot. I asked the pharmacist if it was covered by any of those discount drug cards that are floating around everywhere and can be obtained by just going online and asking for one. The pharmacist checked and it was covered at the local Albertsons pharmacy (a Savon drug store) so he transferred the RX to Albertson’s for me. I went online and requested the card and got a digital one immediately. When I went to pick the medication up it’s total cost was $19. Don’t forget to get a card. It covers medications that are not covered by insurance. All you have to do to activate the card is name, address and phone number. No other information required. This is a nationwide program. Hopefully a reminder about this will help someone out. Good RX is the name of the one I used today and the pharmacist said it really covered a lot of medications.

Use this all the time and have turned so many clients on to it. Sometimes it covers more than their actual insurance does and they use the goodRX discount over their paid insurance plan. Thanks for helping others learn about it. This is life saving for some people. Took one client from $100 a pill to $5 on a medication they can not live without.

Pass the info along to people you know— put it up on your FB page if you do FaceBook. It seems many people have still not gotten the word that these plans exist.

I use GoodRX! Thank you however it happens! ALSO, check on prices at different pharmacies for you pharmaceutical needs. Pharmaceutical companies make different deals with EVERBODY as they see fit so check around! I’ve gone from seeing retail prices of a new product from near $300 to now $20 so it’s always changing. ✌️

Great advice Kenna! My husband has ulcerative colitis and takes a medication that does not have a generic yet. It's $150.00 per month even with us using both insurances. With one of those discount card, ( our pharmacy actually recommended we check into them) the total now is less than $20.00. It's with doing the research!👍
