Good Afternoon, FS Warrors! Up at 3:30 this morning. If I knew what the day had in store for me, I wouldn't have gotten up at all. And it's early yet. Ran my easy 3 miles, showered, ate a bagel, drank some juice and headed for work. Made it about a mile before the transmission went out in the truck. Was able to put the flashers on and nurse the truck the next 4 miles to the BP Gas Station. Transmission was slipping so bad, that once I pulled into the parking lot and up against the curb, the truck wouldn't move any more. Had the truck towed back to the schoolhouse, while I make a decision on what I'm going to do. Checked with my favorite junkyard - $700 for one with 99,000 miles on it. They will guarantee it, but it's no fun pulling one and taking it back, so you can try again. The guy, that owns the garage where I used to get the other trucks worked on, said it wouldn't cost much more than that to rebuild the one I have. I'm leaning in that direction. DW had one of the granddaughters bring my little car back. They pretty much neglected it the whole time they had it. The tires were bare with the cords showing, panel trim was missing, and the Lord only knows when they actually took the car in for an oil, lube and filter - even though we would pay for it all. So, the car was shaking like Elvis with a caffeine overdose. I took it in for new tires, oil, lube and filter and managed to make it in to work by 11:00. I could have just said the heck with it and stayed home, but in the mood I was in, and having already had some words with DW and the granddaughter, I decided work was the safest place for me.

The Senior Dinner last night kind of surprised me. I didn't think they could do a buffet just for us, with the other customers there. So, I figured we would be ordering off the menu. Nope. They put a bunch of tables together and it was a family style dinner. They brought out big bowls of fried chicken, roast beef, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cole slaw. I had everything except the beef. And then I had a piece of peach pie. I am hopeless when it comes to free meals. Lots of interesting conversation, from how privileged we are in this country, to one woman's adventure resulting from eating too many beans while she was cooking. One person mentioned that they hadn't ever done this or that, and another asked if she knew where people went who lied. I said, "Congress." They thought that was pretty funny - howbeit true.

Well, anyway, the day has kind of sucked so far, but the day is young yet. I have a feeling we won't be going to that movie tonight. I hope everyone has a great day, and a better weekend. Toodles!

Awww what a poop day...hopefully it gets better! The dinner sounded like it was really nice, I love those types of situations! Don't have a very big family so I'm always envious of big family-type dinners like that!

*snort* Congress.. you crack me up. I love it when true things are funny enough to laugh at - unlike your truck.. ugh.. so very sorry. Love the idea of being served family style at a restaurant. Neat.

So sorry for your sucky time with the vehicle. Could have been worse, at least you made it to the BP station. My car is still in the shop from September. I call every week. Just don't know anywhere else to tow it. I can see where you would be ticked off up your car not being taken care of. Its almost an insult to your good nature :) I would have been bad at the dinner. Loved your comment about Congress. Great way to lighten up an awkward moment :) Hope your day improved.
