My socially awkward self DID make it to the gym today. But guess what, I did cardio. Haha. It was the best and easiest choice for me to get acclimated to the gym surroundings. Then I went home and played with weights and such. I am such a dork.

It is true. I feel that way too. I guess I have to keep telling myself that everyone else is feeling the same way. Haha.

I do the same thing when I join a gym. That way I can check out where all the equipment is before I go and wander aimlessly through it looking for my machines. I hate remembering all the chair/pin settings so just do the free weights...which you do feel like the guys are watching you since there are very few girls in that section. For now I'm lifting at home. SCORE for making it to the gym! Remember that MOST people in the gym are thinking the same thing...they are all looking at ME. I never talk to anyone. I think everyone is weird at the gym. The regular morning older crowd tends to talk to each other, but pretty much most people keep to themselves. Who wants to talk anyway when you're grunting out another rep or trying to breathe on the cardio machine? Good luck on your next trip. Pave the way for other women bodybuilders and hit those weights next time! :)

I think half the effort in working out at the gym is the act of actually getting yourself to the gym! So, consider yourself victorious! That's why I just walk down a flight of stairs to my basement gym. Can't beat the commute, and it's a lot harder to make excuses not to work out!

Hey, easy there! The only dorks are the ones who won't even make the effort! You win!

Laughing at new people in the gym is like laughing at sick people in the hospital! So..... you did a great job by fighting your instincts and going anyway. Next time you go it will be a piece of cake! Congrats!
