Suzy the Mimi's Journal, 31 August 2021

I'm going to have to reevaluate my eating patterns. Work has been going full tilt recently, with no time for a lunch break. I end up having my 2nd meal of the day so late that I physically cannot eat enough calories before bed. It doesn't help that I can't stomach food first thing in the morning, so I eat breakfast late. It's 8 pm (almost bedtime for me) and I'm just over 800 calories, but I'm still full from supper. ☹️

Keep some bags of baby carrots and nuts around. At least a healthy snack when you can’t have a full meal

adjust as you need to, ive been eating less than 1000 cal daily for a few weeks now, bloodwork cameback with normal stats, find what works for you. im not sure there is a " rule " that says a person on x number of cals has to eat that much everyday,

Man that’s tough. I remember when I had a schedule like that. If you can ease your body into eating a good breakfast that will help. It did me and within the last couple of years helping my husband and daughter with eating breakfast. They were like that too but we’re able to overcome it. Having those healthy snacks on hand as already suggested sounds great. Best wishes!

I had a similar job where we were often not in control of “going to lunch”. What helped me was 100 calorie packs of various kinds of nuts and roasted edamame that I made up myself for optimal nutritional impact, single serving cheese sticks, and hard, crunchy granola bars that I broke up and kept in a baggie in my uniform pocket. It wasn’t optimal but it was what it was. I would loose up to half a pound a day and really had trouble keeping my weight up.

I used to have that problem when I worked...I used to pack several small meals/ snacks to help me through the day. Things like boiled eggs, veggies, a piece of cooked chicken, nuts, and premier protein shakes. It does require prepping but it works.👍

Thank you, everyone, what an amazing group! To clarify, I wake up at 6:15 am Tues. through Fri. (4:45 am on Mon.) and I just can't handle food for at least a few hours. If I have a busy morning at work, it may be closer to lunch time before I can eat "breakfast." Today, for example--it's nearly 11 am and all I had time for is now-cold coffee. When I don't eat breakfast until 11, I'm not hungry again until 4 or 5, and find it hard to fill in enough calories (since I'm no longer buying high-cal junk food). I like the idea of prepping some pre-measured grab-n-go goodies; I'm going to prep that tonight. Mostly, my problem is laziness; I work from home so I can dash off to the kitchen whenever I need, but can't take the time to cook.

At one time I struggled to get enough calories in for a family member. The answer was the blender. Lots of apps with blender recipes. Add some ripe avocado in your blend, or flax seed. You can sip your meals while you work. Bonus is hydration. Winter time, you can slow cook soups, cool off a bit, blend & drink.

Suzy, I often eat breakfast late, sometimes so late I consider it brunch and only eat two meals that day. I also usually eat dinner late, about 9:00 p.m. or later. Many will tell you this is the wrong way to eat, but I will tell you it is what works for me. When I'm following my plan (I do CICO, calories in, calories out, about 1600 calories a day), I lose weight. What each of us must do is learn what works for us, and eat accordingly. Good luck on your journey! 🌈🌈🌈
