Kiki8123's Journal, 05 July 2014

2 days after 2nd kettlebell and TRX training (first was just a learning period and light) and I'm walking around like a T-Rex! Can't straighten my arms and bicepts are so sore!! I've researched this and it looks like I have DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness). This is a killer! Not one of those "good sore" feelings after a tough workout. Hope it's better soon. Will have to advise trainer so I don't aggravate it next session on Tuesday. I'm reading different suggestions from both icing the muscle to heat. Also massaging muscle. Anyone had this happen to them? Suggestions to make it feel better?

Welcome. It will diminish over time, but cool is what you're looking for. A bag of peas (since you're not eating carbs any more?) is perfect. Put a towel on the arm and the bag over top. Don't rush it. Take a day of rest. Don't use heat.

I had knee replacement June 4th and doing lots of physical therapy ,,, and there are times when Im in a lot of pain ,, my therapist has taking her hand like a fest at used her knuckles across my whole leg from toes to thigh ,,, wasn’t a 100 % sure what the goal was ,, anyways ,, O M G the next day my whole leg felt like GodZilla of pain came to visit my leg ,,,, guess the body builds up pockets of toxins and especially while in pain ,,, is a sign of the toxins building up even more ,, and then they used they hard plastic devices & scraped my skin ,, causing tissue to break down ,, wasn't comfortable about that either ,, the tearing down and rebuilding new tissues is painful ,, so I know what cause the pain ,,, softly rubbing my leg brought some relief if I could soak in a tub I would but I cant still have stitches ,, wish I was better help ,, Good luck for ya sweet dreams <3

Thanks, Sherrie! Will try that. Thanks dream catcher - hope you're doing better soon too! I feel for ya! Arms still sore and stiff this morning. Was going to do Zumba class at gym today, but we move arms a lot and sometimes are doing push-ups etc on floor so I think I'm gonna pass and let my body heal. It's been a long time since I sat around for the day. Will probably do a marathon of watching season 4 of Downton Abbey and see if I can manage some laundry. Glad it's Sunday!

For muscles I keep hearing that self-massage before and after workouts really makes a difference. People use foam balls and rollers, and you put your whole body weight on it and roll back and forth. GOod luck!

Thanks, jazzyjez! Have next session tonight and arms are all back to normal. I've let trainer know what happened so fingers crossed. Will massage biceps prior!

Take a nice hot bath with some Epson Salt and luxuriate in a magazine for about an 1 hour and then rub your sore spots with some "sports cream" because it does not have a smell to it, and if you can, take a nice nap and you will feel like new. Hopefully you are not kettlebelling every day. That will definitely make you sore for sure.

Thanks, C! Feeling a ton better today - even after the session. No, only doing this kettlebell and TRX twice a week. The rest of the time I'm doing more classes working lower body and core (Zumba, butts and guts). Not trying to hurt myself and definitely listening to my body. Too old not to!
