I went to the gym today. I did arms. I have no idea how long I was at the gym and that frustrates me. I should know these things. My arms burned during the work out, it was good. I ate off induction menu which means I ate tortilla and 1/2 a scoop of ice cream. I didn't consume enough fat for the day but I didn't want my calories to keep climbing.

Tomorrow is my fasting day. I think I will do a water fast. I usually do high fat, will settle on a water fast. Tomorrow we will go back to the gym, it will be leg day. I wonder, tell me if you know, WHEN will I see my scale drop with my going to the gym? I've only gone twice. I have a goal to drop 8-10 lbs this month. I've been able to drop 10 lbs in March and 8 lbs in April. I hope to keep the trend going.

I think it shouldn't take longer than a week to start seeing minimal gains, and then it's very progressive. You might then have like sudden drops in weight also. But the food intake across the days (the average) must always create a calorie deficit with the calories burned (BMR+exercise). But you should start seeing different results if you keep doing what you've started doing now. Just be patient and don't stop! :) Also, don't push yourself too hard at the gym. Consistence is the most important. That's what slowly brings the weight down :)

Thanks Euheide, I was just about to post when should I see results. I haven't see any change since I started this month. I've been 215 the whole time. I also fast and used to see loses with that.. but so far I'm holding steady. I'm sore today, arms. Today is leg work out and cardio. I need to focus on some cardio after my workout. Its the part I find the most boring! Thanks for your post!!

I hate to exercise! I love sports, that to me is the best exercise. Going to the gym is not for me, it is too much like work and I am retired. I admire you for doing it. Years ago I used to go to aerobics, I hated getting red faced and sweaty. I know it is good for you, but I just don't have any fun doing it.

Kathy, it is work.. ugh. But if I can get into it it should pay off.

In that situation, I would try to keep exercising (always more lightly when sore). If you reach a certain point and notice you are still not getting results, then what I would do, if I was fasting, is I would try to make an average of daily calories I was getting to try to reduce them a bit. One other thing - If you eat stuff like salad dressings, olive oil etc, all those things have a huge amount of calories and you always have to weigh those things or you will be getting an inaccurate number of calories. You have to log every single thing you eat or drink, the only exception being water (though it's always good to log water to keep control of it). If you are already logging every single thing, and you're not losing fat with that calorie average, you will need to reduce the calorie intake even further to escape your plateau. There are only 2 ways out of a plateau - less calories or more exercise (or both). There is absolutely no alternative to that :P. The type of food you eat may be tasty, but it also may be making it much harder for you - Be careful to focus your calorie allowance on proteins and fibers, and also vitamins and other minerals. Try not to go less than 50 g of proteins every day. To make aerobic exercise less boring, try taking a music player with you for that. I always have great fun at my 30 minute indoor cycling sessions because I watch my YouTube subscriptions while I do it. If aerobic exercise is still too boring to do at the gym, you can always try doing at at home instead while you watch TV, for example. There are very good aerobics videos on YouTube so you could try any of those routines. You're guaranteed not to get bored! :) You will eventually get over this phase! It's just a matter of time and trying different things! ;)

Also, doing aerobics in the morning is a great way to start your day. It will energize you and make you feel much better both physically and psychologically ;)

I walk on my gazelle in the mornings to get my day kick started and my metabolism going a bit. It also loosens up the old arthritis and simply makes me feel better all day. It s completely no impact. Used to love aerobics had to quit due to an accident. When I could finally walk again etc. Doc said no more aerobics too high impact. Walking, swimming, and now hopefully my bike.

Thanks for the posts! Its too early yet to tweak my work out routine, just started. Just waiting to see that first lb go down. My muscles are sore so that is a good sign. Today is an eat day and I am suppose to do cardio.. so tired I am not sure if i will go in at all.. still deciding.
