livelifefully's Journal, 20 February 2009

Hey everyone! I thought I would check in with some journals at the end of a very busy week. I have been at 137 the last 2 days, so I'll see where I am tomorrow and record it if it's new.

We had a bit of the stomach flu come by the last couple days, but I barely got it thankfully. Some people were really sick. Thankfully we had a snow day on Thursday so the field trip I was supposed to go on was cancelled and I was able to sleep instead! I am so glad to be feeling so much better today b/c I really want my energy to be up for my triathlon on Sunday! I have a 10:40 time slot and they will be doing 2 people at a time, so I get to do it with my workout partner. I am so glad we get to do it together. I will have my hubby take pictures and maybe I will even post one with my sexy swim cap and goggles! This event is just the shorter timed one, so not a huge deal, but I still should be challenging enough. There are some very competitive people who have done many races participating, and now there are guys from the high school swim team doing it too, so lots of competition! But ultimately it is about what I can do personally and not about comparing myself to others. Plus, I am twice the age now, if not more, of the high schoolers, so I am proud I can do it and think I will do well!

Eating is going fine this week, esp as I am just thinking of how I eat can make me feel too heavy for Sunday's race. I just want to fuel myself properly instead so am trying to keep it in mind. I only was able to exercise one day this week due to funeral stuff, work and sickeness. I will swim tomorrow morning just to feel ready for Sunday. Hope you all will have a good weekend.

I'm sure we've all heard of carb loading before a marathon.... be sure to check out what the experts recommend you consume before the triathalon. You have trained long and hard for this.... but this is where it all comes together! How exciting! Best of luck to you. Just being counted among the participants is amazing enough. To be able to finish... WOW! Can't wait to see how you do!

Good luck on the race this Sunday! I am proud of you too that you are participating, and it sounds like you're in really great shape and that you'll do really well! Fantastic! I hope one day to be able to be that fit! Are you swimming with snow around you? It must be freezing!
