mrsmole's Journal, 26 February 2014

A shocking loss of another pound. Things went well in The Prune Department, and those of you who know me well for my constant gripes about regularity will know what that is a euphemism for.

Something very awesome that happened: I realized when I got so angry the other day, I didn't think even ONCE about food. I just felt the anger, wrote in my Journal, came on here and vented, got through it, did what I had to do, and it passed.

It's probably the first time in my entire life that the thought of eating down my emotions never even came into play. It took a little while for this to dawn on me, but now that it has, I feel like it's a HUGE step in the right direction. Being a lifelong emotional eater has been such a burden, and if this is the first step to getting past it, then WOO HOO!

MrsMole, CONGRATS on releasing your pound and your emotional food VICTORY! [Just a couple of tips for you, in that vein] Visit DianePetrella.com and get on her emailing list... she'll send you '7 Secrets to Releasing Weight' and many other tips. Also, amihungry.com [this talks about MINDFUL EATING, which is the way we ALL SHOULD EAT.] I have found a valuable tool in MY weight journey, that perhaps may help YOU. It is a Food/Emotions Journal. Just go into 'notepad' on your computer, [and/or smartphone] and start a new file. [Then leave that window open, so it's handy for you to use...] I was tracking the time, the food eaten, and a rating on a scale of 1-10 for Hunger, Mood, and Satisfaction. [with 10 being the highest] For mood, I usually extrapolate and list the emotion I'm feeling... 5 being neutral, low meaning negative feelings, and 10 being the highest in whatever emotion you're feeling. You can always add a bit of a paragraph concerning the circumstances under which you were eating, [the origination of the idea and the place you ate] Anyway, I hope this helps you... Best of Luck on your Weight journey!

Great ideas, chereeguitar. I actually already journal in a notebook with a pen and paper (I find it more satisfying) and I carry it with me 24/7. I also use a number scale and I find that it helps so much. Thank you for the websites, too!
