This is an interesting read on calories. Had a mini debate with the neighbor who was adamant that fats and carbs needed to be cut in order to lose weight. My position was calorie cutting was more important, that a pound of feathers is the same as a pound of lead. A calorie burned is a calorie burned regardless of where it comes from. Since fats and carbs make up the majority of the calories in food, I can see the point in cutting those two to lose weight. Cutting protein and fiber won't do it. I know I really have to watch my carbs and if I eat too many I really struggle trying to get the weight off.

I only watch calories. I try to stay at or below my set limit, but I do not limit the types of food I eat. I like to feel full, so I eat the food that I can eat the most of at minimum calories. 2 cups of mixed green salad with a vinaigrette vs a side of potatoes with the same caloric value (1/4 cup or less), what do you think will fill me up and keep me happy. So ultimately I make choices that are lower in carbs, but that is because I like to eat in bulk. Official weigh in tomorrow. I agree with article, take in less calories, lose weight. Keep it simple.
