Tamala Bogard's Journal, 04 January 2014

I know it's only been a few days for this new year, but feel like I cannot achieve. I just love to eat. Whatever I'm feeling, Imma wantin' to eat. It's my best friend. It makes me feel better. I don't smoke, I've tried to drink, (cost too much), and I don't do drugs of any sort. Seems like food is the only thing that comforts me. Helps me find my "happy place". Guess I had better look for a different route to get there...Gotta search for happiness and contentment in different places. Just thinking out loud here...Want to use every tool available to feed the body, not the mind...

Check out "Becks Diet Solution" on Amazon.com. It's not a diet book, but a book that helps change behaviors and how we look at food. Food is fuel for our bodies. You might also check your local library and see if they have a copy. You can change the way you think about food.

I'd also recommend Eat What you Love - Love What you Eat. The book has helped me a lot to use mindfulness to really enjoy what I'm eating but determine the difference in eating out of hunger vs boredom or emotions. It is difficult when food remains the last frontier of 'misbehaving' but so far the philosophy has helped me be in charge.

Will write down both titles, and look them up at the library. Thanks for suggestions, FullaBella!

Gotta find your own personal groove. Find what works for you. Food is not the answer. Stick with your efforts even when things don't go as planned. But, having a plan in place definitely helps. Maybe you should think food may make you happy temporarily but ultimately will be depressing when we see what it does to our weight. I understand the "comfort" all too well. For me, occasionally it is the "comfort" I get from food, particularly in stressful times. Mostly it's the craving of wanting to taste the different tastes of food that taste GOOD. I re-read your post and feed your mind with knowledge and your body with fuel. Hang tough even when it gets too hard to handle! You go girl! And remember we fight this because it's who we are. Our hereditary traits are tough to tackle!

I quit smoking years ago and drinking--that's too many calories--LOL. I still have my wine, but that has to be fit into my calorie intake or I won't consume it. LOL. I think what helps me is recording my calories, weighing myself every day at the same time, exercise (plain walking is fantastic) and believe it or not--Pinterest. Go onto the Healthy section there. They have a lot of exercises, recipes and pictures of how I would love to look--LOL. Walk for twenty to thirty minutes twice a day with your Ipod. They say if you are trying to overcome a habit, to try to develop a hobby. Dieting can become an addiction, too--LOL.
