You know that list of things you have that are "one days...?" One day, I'll lose fifty pounds. One day, I'll be able to shop at K-mart instead of Casual Male XL. One day, I'll write a novel.
Well, my grandmother had a list like that and, out of seemingly no where, she's too sick to finish it. At 88, listening to her talk about things undone is almost painful, but at the same time, it's motivating. Years from now, when I'm 88, I don't want to be lamenting an unfinished list of things. I want to be struggling to find new things to put on my list because I did everything I had planned before.
Why should I keep putting these things off? Was General Tso's Chicken yesterday really worth the delay in reaching my goals? Sure, it was quick and comfortable, but tuna salad would have been just as quick and praise from my wife is comfortable and low-carb.
So that's it, I've had enough. This time, it will work. It will last. I will weigh 325 by Memorial Day. When I make it, I'm going to reward myself. Something Hawaiian themed...
