Well, I was right. Even though I did not overindulge in anything my weight is 2 lb up. Sigh. I am not going to record it, as it surely will go down, but it will take me more than a day and a glass of wine to get it down.
I have to confess. Holidays are not easy time for me emotionally. That does not make me eat more as I am not an emotional eater, but I do feel stressed out. This goes beyond normal perfectionism and finding the right gift for a lot of people who don't need anything but a reality check.
Some of my family members have serious issues with gratitude and holiday spirit. I am not sure what is going on but people who are borderline normal in daily life turn into vicious gremlins as soon as they smell the holiday meal. Right now I am seriosly considering not having any more holiday meals ever.
So there I was impersonating Pollyanna and singing Kumbaya non stop from 8 in the morning till desserts when it became obvious it was not helping. So we did not have desserts. I popped a few aspirins and went to bed crying (which mind you I do not do very often - I am a strong woman who can handle anything type - I just don't sleep and gain weight while not eating -but crying, that is not me). The only consolation I have is that this year we were celebrating both Thanksgiving and Hanukkah at the same time, and I will not have to cry again over a batch of latkes in a few weeks. As we are a multi denominational family, I still have to survive through Christmas and New Year.
So why did I write it down and shared my frustration with the virtual universe? Not sure. May be I am scared of not going to work and spending three more days with the people I truely love and to whom I devoted my whole life and whose company I should be able to enjoy. May be it will help me close the door into yesterday and enjoy a beautiful day and not going to work and having at least some time for myself.
