healsdata's Journal, 20 November 2008

Ah, so sarasay just called me out for not being around much lately. I've been trying to get back in to it, I just can't get in to the groove. I'm trying to remember what it was this time last year that got me so excited, so eager and its just not coming to me.

Its bad. Its so bad that I know its bad and yet, its still bad. I'm not tracking my food, weighing in daily or even remembering to take my vitamins. There's no excuse, I just can't mentally get myself back in the groove. I've been indulging in all the Philly classics lately: cheesesteaks, soft pretzels, Yuengling and spiced wafers.

I read Fat Loss - Strong Motivation is More Important than Details today and the author is right; if someone offered me 5 million dollars to get in shape, I could easily do it. For some reason, I just can't click health in to my head as being worth far more than 5 million dollars. Its probably due, mostly, to the fact that I'm in good health (thankfully) and I'm young enough to still have the "superman complex."

On the bright side, I've been doing more fiction writing lately. I've struggled to consistently commit to writing but I've been doing about 1,000 words per business day all of this month. That's not my eventual goal, but its certainly better than nothing.

While my chart looks like it is bairly moving...just this long, flat line, reminicient of the Nebraska plains, you certainly have the Rocky Mountains going on there!! I totally understand the non-motivation thing. I just get so tired of this being a struggle EVERY SINGLE DAY. But, you are making progress in other things, so perhaps it will inspire you. I know when I'm doing well in other areas of my life, paying attention to my health seems easier and less like a chore!!

Hey good to see ya! Great job for gettin' back in here! I'm sure you'll be able to get back in the "grove" in no time, it's catch round here! Good job on the writing... glad to hear it's going well. Now then, kick it up, write down your Plan for the next few days and ROCK it UP! =D ~bully

Welcome back! I don't even know what some of that food you mentioned even is, I'm sure you don't really want it. :) I know about the "superman complex". It was a mixed blessing for me but I thought I was invincible until I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the age of 19. The amazing thing is that I REVERSED a chronic illness by eating right. You can AVOID any chronic illness. That will save you tons of money on medical bills later on in life. I'm talking hundreds of thousands of dollars. You can do it! We're here if you need us.

You just named everything I wish I could have except for Yuengling(rather have Bud Light). I pass The Philly Pretzel Factory everyday and want to stop in but I just keep on going and I just can't go to Tony Lukes and say "Gimme a cheesesteak without the bread", they'd just look at me funny. They call it a pussy steak lol

Oh, so that's what a Yuengling is! LOL. What are spiced wafers? I ordered cheese steak sandwitch fillings on a salad once at a mall food court. They looked at me funny but all the people I was with said they wanted what I was having because it looked so good. It was pretty good, even for mall food. :)

Sara, spiced wafers are these really hard cookies that come out around october and they are meant to be dipped in milk and they are flavored with spices. I didn't know it was a Philly thing though.

Is it like a ginger snap?

Oh - I meant to say welcome back before I asked about the cookie! Sorry, I have ginger snaps on my brain.

Yes it is exactly like a ginger snap.

Thanks for all the comments! I decided today that one key step I need to take is to get back in to the habit of eating a healthy breakfast and lunch. I ended up ravenous and the hotel gift shop near where I work doesn't have healthy options.

Yay! Good choice. I think having my smoothie every morning has really helped me this time around. I don't always make it the exact same way and I vary many of the other things i eat so I didn't get bored, but the shake makes me have a filling breakfast every single day ;)
