Recalibration

After some more research, I've adjusted my calorie count by half. Now I'm now at 1200 a day.

Test Case

I'm a little skeptical about such a low count. The literature is ambiguous and a lot of people have conflicting advice.

Medical Advice

My mom is a pediatrician. She agreed 1000 calories was too low and 1200 should be the minimum. However, with my weight training and swimming every day, perhaps even 1200 is too low.

Diets

I'm curious if the advocates for such a low calorie count are as active. Eating well and exercising seems logical for losing body fat and becoming fit.

Could eating such few calories limit my ability to put in a strong, effective weight lifting and cardio routine?

What do you think?

Yes, eating too little can adversely effect your performance when working out. You may get tired and not be able to work out at a high capacity. You will have to see what happens and adjust your intake. But with weight loss, it's better to start at a higher caloric intake, because as you lose, you need less calories to keep losing. You might start at 1400 a day and see if you lose. A diet needs to be sustainable. Only you can decide what is working for you though. Start high and see what happens. Some people lose better when they eat more and exercise. Eating less does not always equal better weight loss. But everyone is different.
