Did not sleep well last night-I am pretty tired this morning...up a pound too (not TOM). I know I say this a lot, but I just don't get it. I try and try, I follow the plan and what do I get in return? Nothing but up and down and it is making me grouchy. I know it's my own fault I am overweight, but I made the change in my WOE 7 months ago...is this it? All I get is 13 pounds? Really? This is really starting to wear me down. Is it genetics? Am I just destined to be fat? I sure hope not.

I'm sorry :( I know that has to be really frustrating. Without looking at your diet calendar.... are you eating alot of processed meats or atkins products or maybe too much artificial sweetner? I know those things can slow me down. I hope it picks up soon and I'm sure your pound is water retention. Good Luck!

Lack of sleep can most definitely affect your weight loss, even cause a gain. I wish I had some answers for you, but I don't. I have uped my cals, lowered my cals, uped my carbs and yet, lowered my carbs. I am still trying to find what works for me. Just remember, most things do not happen over night. Go back to when you saw good losses and look over the things that happened the previous week. It usually takes at least 3+ days for it to show. 13 pounds is just the beginning. You will see more.

Amy, you are such a great inspiration to me. I would have given up long ago if I had worked as hard as you have, and not seen the results that I wanted. Keep up the great work!! You are amazing!!

Amanda, I don't use sweetener and cut out Atkins bars a long time ago. I cut out EAS shakes too except for the occasiional one. I don't eat deli meats or really any processed stuff...it's just slooooow going for me I guess. Keli-one day we will get it right! LOL maybe we should write our own book :) And Stef, thank you-YOU are the one who is inspirational to me!! Love u guys (aww shucks)

Amy, while I am still trying to record my food here, I am not going to be that obsessed with the cals and/or carbs right now. I am going back to the Atkins that I have done before, which I believe is from the 90s. 2 cups salad daily and a cup of other acceptable veggie or 3rd cup salad along with proteins and fats. I know it worked for me. Go back to when you lost before. Do what you know works.

Keli, I think 'obsessed' is a good description for where I am. I never used to be this way. Last time I did Atkins and it worked, I read the book and ate what it said to. I did not log, journal and count until I was insane. Don't get me wrong I love the journaling here and I appreciate the support I have received from all the different members. I guess this weekend in Seattle will be the test. 4 days away from home, away from FS and not counting or logging, just mentally noting what I put in my mouth. I know what I can and can't eat so it shouldn't be that difficult.

I have often thought of just not recording my foods. I think I am going to just eat what I used to eat, then list it so I can look back at it as something that either worked, or didn't. Again, I am not worrying about the calories or the carbs for now. Just going to eat what I used to and see how it goes.

I looked at your diet calendar and food diary and noticed very few veggies and that you aren't consuming your RDI each day. Keep in mind if you don't eat enough you won't lose weight. I too am a retred on Atkins lost over 115 lbs before and nearly put it all back on when I started eating like my hubby lots of sugar! This time around has been hard and I stalled at 297 lbs due to not eating enough... I have to at least consume my RDI or I don't lose weight ideally you want to eat 20-30 percent less than the calories you burn in your activities. Your RDI is what you would need to maintain your weight if you laid in bed all day long. This go around I have to track everything to make sure I'm getting my calories in! But since increasing my calories I have lost on a regular basis with the exception of TOM every other week that's made it rough cuz I gain 3-4 lbs before TOM starts. So I go up and down but keep going down further than I go up. Take a look at my diet calendar I am definitely not staying away from the shakes and sugar free candy and don't eat nearly enough veggies but still eat more veggies than you... I think veggies may be the key for ya ;-)

Myree and Sandy, I set my RDI to 2000 so I would not have to count my calories...this after following my suggested RDI of 1500 and not losing on that amount either; my excercise log is set to nothing but resting and sleeping (and driving on the weekdays) and it still shows a deficit. I have had a calorie deficit almost everyday since Feb 1 so I struggle with the whole calories in/out theory ( I know it works for some). I count total carbs-not net; net carbs is also too much for me. I follow the second edition of Atkins (3 cups veggies per day). I tell ya, I have up'd and downed every aspect of this WOE (carbs, cals, protien, water even). I agree totally to stick it out...that is not negotiable for me. Maybe after a relaxing weekend away I will re-evaluate and change something up. I love most veggies so if that is the key-it is doable :) Thanks for your advice!!

Sorry things are frustrating for you now. I tried counting total carbs and I couldn't lose at all. I lose much better on net carbs. It is hard to find exactly what works for each individual.
